Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Mansfield Town and Forest Green square off against each other at One Call Stadium in a postponed League Two game. The Yellows dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Morecambe at the weekend, but they are seen as hot favourites to win the midweek clash. Both Callum Johnson and Rhys Oates remain on the sidelines with injuries, while Stephen McLaughlin should be recalled to the starting XI.
The Green Army, on the other hand, are eager to put an end to their eight-game winless run, but given their shaky defence, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the promotion-chasing hosts. The likes of Nathan Holland, Jacob Maddox, and Jordon Garrick continue to miss out with injuries for the visiting side, while Ryan Inniss is back from suspension. January signing Alex Gorrin, though, is banned for the match following his sending-off in a 2-0 loss to Harrogate.
Highlighted Player (Troy Deeney):
Troy Deeney started his professional career in 2006 at Walsall. The prolific attacker scored 27 goals in 123 appearances for the club and in 2010 he went on to sign a contract with Watford. He joined the Hornets for a fee of £500,000 and it has to be noted that he scored only two goals for the team in the 2010/2011 Championship campaign.
However, as time went by he was raising his form and in the 2014/2015 the English attacker scored 21 goals for Watford and helped the team secure promotion to the Premier League. Troy Deeney was playing an important role in Quique Sanchez Flores’ team on their return to the English top flight and he bagged no fewer than 13 goals in the 2015/2016 season.
Deeney was born in Birmingham, West Midlands, on 29 June, 1988 and he has two children, Myles, a son, and a daughter Amelia. His brother Ellis is a football player as well, but he plays as a midfielder. The striker has also spent some time in prison, but has since seriously improved his behaviour.
Highlighted Team (Mansfield):
Founded in 1897, Mansfield Town are a professional club that compete in the League 2, the English fourth tier. The Stags are well known for their yellow shirts and blue shorts, while the colour of their away kit is black. Field Mill is the club’s home ground, the stadium with the capacity of 9,186.
The venue was built back in 1861 and renovated in 1999. Chesterfield and Notts County are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals. Mansfield Town did well to win the Football League Trophy in 1986/1987 season, with the team beating Bristol City on penalties at Wembley Stadium.
The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the regular time, with Kevin Kent and Glyn Riley scoring for Mansfield Town and Bristol City respectively. Goalkeeper Rod Arnold is the player with most appearances as he played 513 games for the Stags in all competitions.
