Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Heerenveen will be aiming to build on a 2-0 win over Heracles when they take on PSV in the Eredivisie round 31. De Superfriezen have been scoring goals for fun of late and we are positive that they will adopt yet another attack-minded approach against the league leaders. Talented midfielder Espen van Ee is pushing for a start, while fellow youngster Oliver Braude is back from suspension. The visitors, on the other hand, aim to get their job done in the 2023/2024 Eredivisie campaign as soon as possible.
As PSV looked sharp in front of goal in a 6-0 crushing of Vitesse before the Dutch Cup break, we believe that there is a big value in betting on over 2.5 goals. Both Noa Lang and Isaac Babadi are out of contention with injuries, while Ricardo Pepi is a major doubt. In their last encounter in Friesland PSV defeated Heerenveen 1-0, but a high-scoring game is on the cards this time out.
Highlighted Player (Luuk de Jong):
The 26-year-old Dutch striker Luuk de Jong is considered one of Europe’s deadliest strikers with his incredible return of goals in games he spends playing. Luuk de Jong began his football career at De Graafschap in 2008, but moved on to Twente only a year later.
The tally of 39 goals in 76 league appearances earned him a transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach, but his spell in Germany ended in disappointment. Bundesliga club attempted to revive his career by sending him out on loan to Newcastle United but his stint with the English club yielded even more disappointment and concluded in utter disaster with De Jong playing 12 games without scoring a single goal for the Magpies.
A return to Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven turned out to be a proper hit for the 26-year-old striker who has restored his scoring touch with more than 50 goals for the Boeren after less than 90 games.
Highlighted Team (Heerenveen):
Heerenveen is a Dutch football club that is well known for their white shirts with blue stripes. De Superfriezen (The Super Frisians) play home matches at Abe Lenstra Stadium, which has the capacity of 26,400 people.
Heerenveen have yet to win the Eredivisie title, but they impressed in the 1999/00 season, with the team finishing the process in second position in the standings. Thanks to a top-two finish, the club booked their place in the Champions League. Heerenveen, though, recorded only one in the group stages of the elite competition as they defeated Olympiakos 1-0 at home ground. De Superfizien retain a fierce rivals with Cambuur, and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two teams.
It has to be noted that Heerenveen won the Dutch Cup in the 2008/09 season, with the team beating Twente on penalties in the title game. New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech played for Heerenveen at the start of his senior career.
