Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Stade Louis II will be the centre of attention when Monaco and Crvena Zvezda go head to head in the Champions League round 3. Monaco did well to shock Barcelona in their opener, while coming from two goals behind to share the spoils with Dinamo Zagreb in their second group game. Les Rouges et Blancs are seen as hot favourites to win Tuesday’s clash, but they will have to prove their worth on the field. Even though both Florin Balogun and Mohammed Salisu remain in the recovery room, home win should be considered as Crvena Zvezda struggle on the travels.
The Serbian champions, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-0 loss to Inter at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. As Zvezda have conceded 16 goals in total in the last five away games, we are tempted to place our bets on the Ligue 1 side. Left-back Egor Prutsev has joined Mirko Ivanic and Ognjen Mimovic in the recovery room, speaking of the away team.
Highlighted Player (Breel Embolo):
Born in Younde, Cameroon on February 14, 1997, Breel Embolo is a striker who plays for Bundesliga side Schalke 04. Embolo began his youth career at Nordstern back in 2008, but two years later he moved to Old Boys.
In 2010 the Switzerland international joined Basel and he continued playing for the RotBlau at senior level. After scoring 21 goals in 61 appearances for the club in the Swiss Super League, Breel Embolo signed a five-year deal with Schalke 04 in June, 2016 for a fee of €20 million.
The Schalke striker made his Bundesliga debut on August 27 in a 1-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt. Speaking of his international career, Breel Embolo has four caps for Switzerland U21 team and he made his senior debut on March 31, 2015 in a 1-1 draw with United States of America. Embolo is very powerful striker, he is technically strong, he has explosive pace and a composed finisher.
Highlighted Team (Crvena Zvezda):
Crvena Zvezda are the most famous club in Balkans. The Crveno-beli have 19 Yugoslav First League titles and have won eight domestic trophies since the breakup of Yugoslavia. Crvena Zvezda won their last league title in the 2015/2016 season, with the team finishing the campaign no less than 28 points clear of Partizan.
Speaking of Partizan, the Crno-beli are considered Crvena Zvezda’s bitterest rivals and the two teams meet in the “Eternal derby” (Veciti derbi). The capital club did well to win the European Cup title in 1991, with the team beating Olympique Marseile on penalties in the title game. That is considered the club’s biggest success, but it has to be noted that the Serbian club won the International Cup later in 1991. Crvena Zvezda outclassed Colo Colo of Chile (3-0) at National Stadium in Tokyo.
The likes of Dejan Savicevic, Vladimir Jugovic, Dragan Stojkovic, Dragoslav Sekularac, Rajko Mitic, Dusan Savic, Nemanja Vidic and Dejan Stankovic are some of the famous footballers who played for Crvena Zvezda in the past.
