Our prediction for this Coppa Italia match:
There will be fireworks when Atalanta and Lazio face each other at Stadio Olimpico in the Coppa Italia final. The Orobici have been in a thrilling form of late and they are eyeing their sixth consecutive win in all competitions. Atalanta are eyeing their first Italian Cup trophy since 1963 and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against Lazio, who will play at their home ground.
The Biancocelesti failed to book their place in the Champions League and they surely want to save the season with a win in the Coppa Italia. Simone Inzaghi’s men are likely to stick to their attacking style of play and given Atalanta’s attacking potential, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. It has to be noted that in their last meeting in the national championship Atalanta recorded a 3-1 win over Lazio.
Highlighted Player (Marten de Roon):
After spending his youth career in ASWH, Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam, Marten de Roon made his senior debut on 27 March 2010. The midfielder played for Sparta against Twente back then, but he made no more than three appearances for de Kasteelheren in the 2009/2010 season. Marten de Roon joined Heerenveen in 2012 and in 2015 he moved to Serie A side Atalanta. He made 36 appearances for Atalanta in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign, but on 4 July, 2016, he signed a contract with Middlesbrough for a reported fee of £12m. The Dutch footballer scored one goal in three appearances for Netherlands U19 team. Marten de Roon was born in Zwinjndrecht, Netherlands on 29 March, 1991. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as a defensive and attacking midfielder as well. Martin de Roon is a right-footed footballer and he is 185 cm tall.
Highlighted Team (Lazio):
Lazio Roma are an Italian football club based in Rome. Lazio were founded in 1900 and they compete in the Serie A. The Biancocelesti (The White and Sky Blues) have won two Serie A trophies (1973/1974, 1999/2000), while lifting six Coppa Italia titles.
The capital club play their home games at Stadio Olimpico and Roma are regarded as Lazio’s main rivals.
The two teams face each other in the Derby della Capitale and it is considered the fiercest inter-city derby in Italy. Lazio won UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1999, with the team beating Mallorca in the title game. The same year they managed to clinch the UEFA Super Cup trophy as they outplayed English giants Manchester United at Stade Louis II, Monaco.
The likes of Pavel Nedved, Giuseppe Favalli, Juan Sebastian Veron, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Roberto Mancini, Giuseppe Signori, Miroslav Klose and Simone Inzaghi are notable footballers who played for Lazio in the past.
