Our prediction for this Euro 2024 match:
Norway will be looking to build on a 3-1 win over Cyprus when they face Georgia in Oslo on Tuesday evening. The Norwegians continue relying on Erling Haaland and we predict that the Man City superstar is going to make life difficult for the opposition back-line. Yet another man to watch in the home team will be Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard, who produced a fine display in a 6-0 crushing of Jordan on Thursday.
The Georgians, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 7-1 loss to Spain, which is yet another reason why we are going to bet on the Scandinavians. As always, all eyes will be on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, speaking of the visiting team. To make things even more complicated for the away side, Hatayspor midfielder Giorgi Aburjania serves a one-game ban against Norway.
Highlighted Player (Birger Meling):
Born in Stavanger, Norway on December 17, 1994, Birger Meling is a defender who plays for Eliteserien club Rosenborg. Meling began his youth career at Viking back in 2000, but 13 years later he moved to English club Middlesbrough. However, the Norwegian footballer did not play for the Riverside Stadium outfit at senior level.
Meling started his senior career at Stabaek, but after scoring five goals in 57 appearances for the Blue Ones in the league, he moved to famous Norwegian club Rosenborg in the winter of 2017. Speaking of his international career, Meling made his debut with the Norway national team on November 11, 2017 in a 2-0 loss over North Macedonia.
The Rosenborg defender has six caps with Norway U21 team as well. His preferred foot is left, whilst his main position on the field is left-back. The 173-cm-tall footballer has a contract with Rosenborg, which should expire on December 31, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Georgia):
Georgia are yet another former Soviet republic who have been competing as an independent country since 1990. The Georgians had their international debut on May 27, 1990, with the team sharing the spoils with Lithuania in Tbilisi.
Georgia have been struggling in the qualifiers for both FIFA World Cup and the European Championship ever since they played their first qualifying game and they have yet to book their place at the finals of the major tournaments. The Georgian national football team recorded their biggest win on March 30, 1997, with the team hammering Armenia in front of home fans, but they were demolished by Denmark (1-6) eight years later and that is considered the team’s biggest loss.
The Likes of Kakha Kaladze and Shota Arveladze are considered Georgia’s most famous players. Kakha Kaladze played for Georgia from 1996 to 2011, scoring one goal in 83 appearances for the national team. The left-footed defender won two Champions League titles with Serie A giants AC Milan (2003, 2007).
