Kosovo
Arena Nationala will host Tuesday’s EURO 2024 qualifier between Romania and Kosovo, the two teams who shared the spoils with Israel and Switzerland respectively in round 5. The Tricolori are eager to stay in top two in the standings, but this match will be anything but a walk in the park for the home side. It has to be noted that all Marin, Dragusin, and Puscas are banned for the hosts due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
The Kosovars, on the other hand, came from behind to share the spoils with Granit Xhaka and Co. and they are now on a quest to register their first win of the process. Considering that Romania failed to impress in the 1-1 draw with Israel, we predict that the visitors are going to grab something from Tuesday’s qualifier. Kosovo defender Ibrahim Dresevic is back from suspension.
Highlighted Player (Denis Alibec):
After starting his senior career at Farul Constanta, Denis Alibec joined Italian giants Inter in 2009, but he failed to establish himself as a first-team regular at the Serie A club. The Romanian attacker made no more than two appearances for the Nerazzurri in the Italian top flight and he was hungry for a first-team football.
As a result, he signed a loan deal with Mechelen in 2011 and he spent the 2012/2013 season at Viitorul Constanta. Denis Alibec played one match for Bologna on loan as well and in 2014 he signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Astra Giurgiu. Alibec scored 32 goals in 64 appearances for the club before joining Steaua Bucharest in 2017.
He has been playing for the Stelistii ever since and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals for the Romanian outfit in the 2016/2017 Liga 1 campaign. Denis Alibec made his debut for the Romania national football team on October 11, 2015 in an Euro 2016 qualifier against Faroe Islands.
Highlighted Team (Kosovo):
Despite the fact that a number of countries have yet to recognize Kosovo, they have been participating in the World Cup qualifiers September 5, 2016. Kosovo did well to hold Finland to a 1-1 draw in their opener, but they were outclassed by Croatia (0-6) in their second group game.
Albert Bunjaki’s men have slim chances of qualifying for the showpiece tournament in Russia, but, no doubt, they will use qualifying matches to gain a much-needed experience. Kosovo recorded their biggest win over Monaco on April 22, 2006, but they were not a member of FIFA back then. The Kosovo national football team played their first ever international friendly against Haiti in March 2014 and the match ended in a goalless draw.
Kosovo footballers wear blue shirts and black shorts when playing at home, while they play in yellow shirts and yellow shorts when facing their rivals on the road. Albert Bunjaku, who played for the likes of Nurnberg and Kaiserslautern in the past, is the team’s most notable player.
