After failing to beat Italy in the EURO 2020 last 16 Austria will be aiming to return to winning ways when they take on Moldova at Stadionul Zimbru on Wednesday evening. Das Team are eyeing their second win of the process, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at the rock-bottom side. Stuttgart attacker Sasa Kalajdzic has been left out of the squad through injury, while Barcelona teenager has earned his first senior team call-up.
As always, Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic and Real Madrid defender David Alaba will be the men to watch in the away team. The Moldovans continue to struggle in the qualifiers for major tournaments, and given their shaky defence, anything but a routine away win would be a major surprise. In their last meeting in a competitive match Austria defeated Moldova 1-0 thanks to Louis Schaub’s goal.

Alexei Koselev is a Moldovan international who plays for Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard. Koselev started his youth career at Kuban Krasnodar, but he did not see any game action with the Russian club at senior level.
The Moldovan goalkeeper played for the likes of Gagauzia, Dacia-2 Buiucani, Real-Succes, Saxan Gagauz Yeri, FC Tiraspol, Sheriff Tiraspol, and Politehnica Iasi before joining Fortuna Sittard in the summer of 2018. Alexei Koselev has 18 caps for the Moldova U21 team, and he made his senior debut in a qualifier against Russia in 2015.
The 200-cm-tall shot-stopper managed to keep his first clean sheet with the Moldova national team in a 2-0 win over San Marino on March 19, 2017. Alexei Koselev’s preferred foot is right, and he wears the No. 77 shirt at Fortuna Sittard. He made his Eredivisie debut on August 11, 2018 in a 1-1 draw with Excelsior.

Austria is one of Europe’s oldest national football teams and they enjoyed plenty of success during the 1930’s, earning the nickname Wunderteam in the process. Das Team achieved a fourth-place finish at the second World Cup in 1934, before finishing in third place at the 1954 finals. However, Austria have since participated at another five World Cup finals, never getting past the first knockout stage.
