Togo
Senegal play host to Togo at Stade Lat Dior in the opening match of their World Cup qualifying campaign. The Lions of Teranga are seen as No. 1 favourites to win Group H, but they will have to prove their worth on the field. As always, men to watch in the home team will be goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, and forward Sadio Mane.
Togo, on the other hand, suffered a loss to Gambia in their last warm-up game. Considering that les Eperviers are not regarded as good travelers, we are tempted to put our money on Sadio Mane and Co. It has to be noted that Togo footballers that have received call-ups for September qualifiers mostly play in African leagues. Keep in mind, though, that Senegal are eyeing their first ever win over Togo in a competitive match.

Sadio Mane is a Senegalese footballer who plays for Liverpool as a winger. Mane was born in Sedhiou Senegal on April 10, 1992, but he made his senior debut at French club Metz. In 2012 he moved to Red Bull Salzburg, with the pacey winger scoring 31 goals in 63 appearances for the club in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Mane then decided to take a step forward in his career as he joined famous Premier League club Liverpool for a fee of £34 million, signing a five-year contract with the Reds. The Senegal international quickly established himself as a first-team regular at Liverpool and, no doubt, he helped the Anfield outfit make it to the 2017/2018 Champions League final.
Speaking of trophies, Sadio Mane won the Austrian Bundesliga with Salzburg in the 2013/2014 season. In 2017 he was named Liverpool player of the year for the 2016/2017 season. Sadio Mane made his Senegal debut in 2012 and he was part of the Senegal team that participated at the 2012 Olympic tournament.

The Togolese national football team are well known for the incident that happened at the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola. The Togo team bus was attacked by gunmen and it has to be noted that three men were killed during the attack. As a result, les Eperviers decided to withdraw from the tournament, but that decision proved costly for the Togolese national team.
The Confederation of African Football banned Togo from taking part in the next two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations and the Togolese Football Association were fined $50,000 as well. Speaking of their participation in the World Cup finals, Togo qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, but they failed to impress in the group stages of the showpiece tournament, suffering a loss in each of their three group games against France, Switzerland and South Korea.
Emmanuel Adebayor is the most famous footballer who played for les Eperviers and you should know that the former Arsenal striker scored 31 goals in 66 appearances for the Togolese national team.
