Saturday’s football game at TCIFA National Academy pits together Turks and Caicos Islands and Haiti, the two teams who meet for the first time since February 2004. Back then Haiti defeated Turks and Caicos Islands 2-0, and the visitors are once again seen as favourites to beat Omar Edwards’ troops. Haiti aim to overtake Nicaragua in top position in Group E, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the minnows.
Turks and Caicos Islands have been serving as a cannon fodder for their rivals in Group E, with the team conceding 12 goals in the first two qualifying matches. David faces Goliath in Providenciales, and we are positive that Les Bicolores are going to pick up all three points from the match without any difficulties. It has to be noted that Haiti are eyeing their third consecutive win over Omar Edward’s charges.

Wilde-Donald Guerrier is considered one of the best Haiti footballers. Guerrier played for Violette AC and America des Cayes before joining Polish side Wisla Krakow in 2013. After scoring 20 goals in 75 appearances for the Biala Gwiazda, the Haiti international moved to Turkey, signing a deal with Alanyaspor.
In 2017 Wild-Donald Guerrier joined Qarabag and he has been playing for the Azeri side ever since. He scored his first ever goal in the Champions League on July 11, 2017 in Qarabag’s 5-0 win over Samtredia in the qualifiers for the group stages of the elite competition. Qarabag became the first team to reach the group stages of the Champions League in the 2017/2018 season.
Speaking of his international career, Wild-Donald Guerrier scored his first goal for Haiti in a 2-1 loss to Spain in June, 2013. His main position is left-back, but he is used as a left midfielder as well. Guerrier’s preferred foot is left.

Haiti have been FIFA members since 1934 despite making their international debut nine years prior in a 2-1 loss to Jamaica. Haiti is the country with one of the longest football reputation in the Caribbean becoming only the second team from the region to make it to the World Cup. Their 1974 entrance is their only appearance to date however.
Haiti national team are making their Copa America debut at the Centenario in the United States and despite the fact Les Grenadiers have been considered minnows and underdogs on paper, they are sure to provide a competitive bite for their rivals. Heading into their first-ever Copa America, Haiti will be looking to repeat the heroics from the golden age of the Haitian football in 1970s.
Member of the most prominent generation Emmanuel Sanon remains to this date the most distinguished player of the team and the most capped player with 100 games. Former San Diego Sockers striker is also Haiti’s top scorer with 47 goals to his name.
