There will be fireworks when Guinea Bissau and Guinea face each other at Stade Olympique de Nouakchott in their World Cup qualifying opener. Guinea Bissau are eyeing their first win over Guinea since June 1996, but beating the Syli Nationale is easier said than done. One of the men to watch in the home team will be Nanu, who played 12 games for Porto in Primeira Liga last term.
Guinea, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back friendly wins over Kosovo and Niger. Guinea are more of a team than Guinea Bisau, and you should bear in mind that the Syli Nationale are eyeing their sixth consecutive win over the Djurtus. A man to keep an eye on in the away team will be Kairat attacker Kante, who has been scoring goals for fun in the Kazakhstan national championship.

Nicknamed Pele, Judilson Mamadu Tuncara Gomes is a 183-cm-tall midfielder who was born in Aqualva-Cacem Portugal. Despite being born in Portugal, Pele decided to represent Guinea-Bissau on the international stage. Judilson Mamadu Tuncara Gomes made two appearances Portugal U19 team, while receiving a call-up for the U20 team for a friendly against France.
Speaking of his senior debut, Pele played his first match for Guinea-Bissau on June 10, 2017 in a 1-0 win over Namibia. As for his club career, the Guinea-Bissau international played for the likes of Belenenses, Genoa, Milan, Arsenal Kyiv, Olhanense, Benfica, Pacos Ferreira, Feirense, Rio Ave and Monaco before joining Nottingham Forest on loan in 2019.
His main position is defensive midfield, but he is used as a central midfielder as well. Pele’s preferred foot is right and he has a contract with Monaco which should expire on June 30, 2023.

Nicknamed the National Elephants, Guinea national team are affiliated to the Guinea Football Federation. Guinea qualified for their 12th Africa Cup of Nations and they will face the likes of Nigeria, Madagascar and Burundi in the group stages of the tournament in Egypt.
The National Elephants have yet to win the Africa Cup of Nations, but they were on the verge of going all the way at the tournament in Ethiopia back in 1976. Guinea finished the final round in second place in the standings, only one point behind champions Morocco.
The National Elephants wear red socks, yellow shorts and green socks when welcoming their rivals, whilst their away colours are yellow and red. Guinea suffered a 2-1 loss to Togo in their first international game (May, 1962). The African side recorded their biggest win against Mauritania (14-0) on May, 1972), whilst a 6-0 loss to Zaire (July, 1972) is considered the biggest defeat in the history of the national team.
