Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Jamaica and Canada take on each other in a highly-anticipated World Cup qualifier at Independence Park. The Reggae Boyz suffered a 2-0 loss at USA on Friday morning, with the team remaining in the ultimate position in the standings. Since West Ham ace Michail Antonio has withdrawn from the Jamaica squad, we do not that there is a big value in betting on the hosts.
The Canucks, on the other hand, proved their worth in a 1-1 draw with Mexico, with the team extending their unbeaten run to four games. Even both all Cyle Larin, Atiba Hutchinson, and Milan Borjan are out of contention for the Canadians, away win should be considered as they have been producing excellent displays under John Herdman. A man to keep an eye on in the away team will be Bayern Munchen pacey wing-back Alphonso Davies, as well as Lille attacker Jonathan David.
Highlighted Player (Wes Morgan):
Wes Morgan is an experienced 32-year-old defender who plays for English Premier League team Leicester City and the Jamaica national team. Morgan spent majority of his career at his boyhood club Nottingham Forest playing more than 400 games for them across 10 seasons. He was their longest-serving player when he transferred to Leicester City in 2012.
Morgan soon became the captain of Leicester City and had great success with the Foxes most notably winning the Championship title in 2014 and the Premier League title in 2016. Morgan was born and brought up in England but chose to represent his ancestral nation at international level.
He debuted for Jamaica in 2013 and was part of the teams that competed in the 2015 Copa America. He was also a successful member of the Jamaican team that finished second in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Morgan is a tough tackling defender and is a sturdy presence at the back.
Highlighted Team (Canada):
Canada national football team played their first official match back in 1924 when they suffered a 3-2 loss to Australia in Brisbane. The following year the two teams faced each other one in Adelaide, with the Canadians managing to get their revenge on the Socceroos. The Canucks had several unsuccessful attempts to make it to the World Cup finals, but in 1986 they finally booked their place at the showpiece tournament.
Canada faced France in their opener, with Jean-Pierre Papin scoring the winner for les Tricolores in the dying minutes of the match. The Canadians were beaten by Hungary and USSR in the next two group games as well and, as a result, they failed to advance to the knockout stages.
Speaking of the team’s trophies, the Canucks won the CONCACAF Gold cup on two occasions (1985, 2000), with the team beating Honduras and Colombia respectively in the title games. Canada national football team play their home games at BMO Field and the capacity of the venue is 30,000.
