Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Paraguay will look to regain their spot in top five when they host Venezuela to Estadio Defensores Del Chaco on Friday. Following a 2-0 loss at Ecuador, La Albirroja shared the spoils with Colombia in their last qualifying match, with Newcastle United ace Miguel Almiron being sorely missed. In Almiron’s absence, a man to watch in the home team will be Torino attacker Antonio Sanabria, who found the net in the 1-1 draw with Los Cafeteros.
Midfielder Jorge Morel is banned for the match. La Vinotinto, on the other hand, failed to impress in back-to-back defeats to Argentina (1-3) and Peru (0-1), and seeing that both Tomas Rincon and Salomon Rondon are out of contention for the visiting team, we are tempted to put our money on the Paraguayans this time out. A man to watch in the away team will be Toronto ace Soteldo.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Romero Gamarra):
Born in Ciudadela, Argentina on January 11, 1995, Alejandro Romero Gamarra is an attacking midfielder who plays for New York Red Bulls. The Argentine footballer, commonly known as Kaku, began his youth career at Huracan and he continued playing for el Globo at senior level.
After scoring nine goals in 94 appearances for the club, Kaku joined New York Red Bulls in the winter of 2018. Alejandro Romero Gamarra made his MLS debut for the Metros in a 2-0 win over Olimpia in the CONCACAF Champions League. Gamarra scored his first goal for New York Red Bulls in a 3-1 triumph over Club Tijuana in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Kaku has yet to earn a call-up for Argentina national team, but he made 5 appearances for the U20 team. His main position is attacking midfielder, but he can be used as a winger as well. In the 2013/2014 season he won Copa Argentina with Huracan.
Highlighted Team (Venezuela):
The Venezuela national team is the member of South American CONMEBOL confederation competing at the international stage since 1938, at the same time fighting for glory and popularity in the country where baseball diverts all of the attention from the sport. With increased popularity of the FIFA World Cup the country found enough motivation and incentive to increase player development and fan support in order to strengthen the cult of the national football team.
However, South American minnows Venezuela have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup and as of 2014 they remain the only CONMEBOL member not to achieve this feat. La Vinotinto have however appeared in 15 Copa America tournament with their first entry coming in 1967. Their best result was the fourth-place finish in 2011 and under the new leadership of Rafael Dudamet, Venezuela are looking for an upset at Copa America Centenario.
The most prominent player of the Venezuela national team is New York Cosmos midfielder Juan Arango who is the team’s top scorer and the player with most caps.
