Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Bordeaux and Nantes go head to head at Stade Matmut Atlantique in the Ligue 1 round 10. Les Girondins aim to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Monaco, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Les Canaris. Defender Stian Gregersen is banned for the hosts, while all Jean Onana, Laurent Koscielny, Issouf Sissokho, Josh Maya, and Paul Baysse miss out with injuries.
Nantes, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-0 win over Troyes, but seeing that they are not regarded as good travelers, we are tempted to put our money on Bordeaux. Defender Castelletto serves a one-game ban, while Brazil international Fabio is a major doubt. In their last meeting in the French top flight Nantes outplayed Bordeaux 3-0, meaning that the hosts are hungry for revenge. You should bear in mind that les Girondins are after their first home win of the season.
Highlighted Player (Mexer):
Edson Andre Sitoe “Mexer”, who was born in Maputo, Mozambique on September 8, 1988, began his senior career at Desportivo Maputo and he scored three goals in 97 appearances for the club. Mexer played for his home-town club from 2006 to 2010 and in the winter of 2010 he joined Portuguese side Sporting for a fee of €173,000.
The Mozambique centre-back was quickly loaned to Olhanense and it has to be noted that he made 39 appearances for the Primeira Liga club in the league. In 2012 he was sold to fellow Portuguese outfit Nacional and after playing 57 league games for the club, Mexer moved to France. The 187-cm-tall footballer signed a contract with Rennes in January, 2014 and he has been playing for les Rouges et Noirs ever since.
Mexer made his debut for Mozambique national team in 2007 and he represented Os Mambas at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored his first goal for Mozambique in a 5-0 win over South Sudan in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Highlighted Team (Nantes):
Founded on April 21, 1943 Nantes is a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Canaris are considered one of the most famous French clubs and they had a lot of success during the sixties and the seventies. Nantes won their first Ligue 1 title in the 1964/1965 season and 36 years later (2000/2001) they clinched their eighth (last) domestic trophy.
Speaking of the club’s European success, les Canaris did well to make it to the Champions League semis in 1996, but Italian giants Juventus proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Nantes welcome their rivals at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau and the capacity of the stadium is 38.004.
The likes of Vahid Halilhodzic, Adel Selimi, Michel Der Zakarian, Viorel Moldovan, Mario Yepes, Marcel Desailly, Didier Deschamps, Claude Makelele, Christian Karembeu and Dimitri Payet are the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Nantes are well known for their yellow jerseys and that is the reason why they are nicknamed the Canaries (les Canaris).
