Africa Cup of Nations 2019 Tips, Predictions and Betting advice
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Egypt between 15th June and 13th July. The total of 24 squads is set to battle for the title of the best African National team. This major international tournament takes place every two years and the 2019 edition will be the 32nd tournament to be competed for. The Africa Cup of Nations, also known as AFCON, dates to 1957 when the competition first occurred.
Since 1968, the tournament was held every two years, but as of 2013, it shifted to odd-numbered years in order to avoid overlapping with the FIFA World Cup. The 2019 finals were initially due to be held in Cameroon. However, in January the country was stripped of hosting rights over concerns behind the slow pace of preparations. The organisers consequently announced Egypt as the host country.
This is the fifth time that Egypt is organising the tournament. They previously were in charge of the Cup of Nations in 1959, 1974, 1986 and 2006. Interestingly enough, this edition of the tournament was pushed back by six days to accommodate for Ramadan. In doing so, the organizers made sure that the Muslim players will be rested and at their prime during the competition.
