Our prediction for this Scottish League Cup match:
Hibernian play host Dundee at their Easter Road in the Scotland League Cup round 16. Hibernian have slim chances of winning the Premier League title, and, no doubt, they will give 100% to go all the way in the League Cup. The Hibs are enjoying a very successful season, and it is no wonder they are seen as favourites to win Saturday’s football game. Paul Hanlon, who suffered an injury in the 2-2 draw with St. Johnstone, is unlikely to feature against Dundee.
The Dark Blues, on the other hand, sit in the 7th place in the standings in the Championship, with the team failing to impress in a 2-0 loss to Ayr at the weekend. Considering that Hibernian have turned their Easter Road into a real fortress, we predict that the Championship side will return home empty-handed from the trip to Edinburgh.
Highlighted Player (Christian Doidge):
Over the years Christian Doidge has established himself as one of the best attackers in Scotland Premiership. Born on August 25, 1992 in Newport, Doidge is a Wales international who plays for Hibernian in the Scottish top flight.
He is a product of the Southampton football academy, but he did not see any game action in the Premier League with the Saints. The towering striker played for Bristol Rovers during his youth career as well before joining Cwmbran Celtic at senior level. He played for the likes of Barry Town, Carmanthen Town, Dag & Red, Dartford (loan), Forest Green Rovers, and Bolton Wanderers (loan) as well before signing a deal with the Hibs.
Christian Doidge made his Scotland Premier League debut on August 3, 2019 in a 1-0 win over St. Mirren. The Wales attacker scored his first league goal for the Hibs against the same opponent three months late. Doidge has yet to receive a call-up for the Wales national football team.
Highlighted Team (Dundee United):
Established on May 24, 1909, Dundee United Dundee United is a Scottish club that competes in the Premiership. The Terrors play home games at Tannadice Park, the stadium with the capacity of 14,223 people. They are well known for their orange jerseys and black shorts, while violet is the dominant colour of their away kit.
Dundee United returned to the Premier League in 2020 as they were leading the standings when the 2019/20 season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The likes of Miodrag Krivokapic (Yugoslavia), Prince Buaben (Ghana), Ryan McGowan (Australia), Jan Talesnikov (Israel), Morgaro Gomis (Senegal), Dusan Pernis (Slovakia), and Orjan Persson (Sweden) are some international footballers who played for Dundee United in the past.
The club’s main rivals are Dundee, with the two teams facing each other in the Dundee derby. It has to be noted that Dundee stadium Dens Park is located virtually next door to Dundee United’s home ground.
