Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Colombia will be aiming to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive when they host Bolivia to their Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez. Los Cafeteros face a must-win situation against La Verde, and they are likely to leave their hearts on the field. All Juan Cuadrado, James Rodriguez, and Luis Muriel made the cut, but experienced striker Radamel Falcao has been ruled out with injury. Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is pushing for a start.
Bolivia, on the other hand, missed out on a place at the showpiece tournament in Qatar, and given their poor away record, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on Colombia. As always, a man to keep an eye on in the away team will be experienced striker Martins Moreno, who is leading the South America WC goal-scoring chart with ten goals.
Highlighted Player (James Rodriguez):
James Rodriguez is an attacking midfielder who plays for Spanish giants Real Madrid. The Colombian superstar played for the likes of Envigado and Banfield at the start of his career and he moved to Europe in 2010, joining Portuguese side Porto for a fee of €5.1 million.
James scored 25 goals in 63 league appearances with the Dragons and in 2013 he joined Monaco. His transfer to the Ligue 1 side was the second most expensive in the history of Portuguese Primeira Liga (€45 million) and he signed a five-year contract with les Rouges et Blancs. The Colombian ace impressed at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and, as a result, Real Madrid chiefs signed him on 22 July, 2014 for an undisclosed fee.
However, reports in Spain suggested that the fee was approximately €80 million. Rodriguez scored 13 goals in 29 league appearances for Real Madrid in the 2014/2015 Primera Division campaign and he was in Gareth Bale’s shadow in the 2015/2016 season. James is well known for his technical skills, his vision and the ability to create goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Highlighted Team (Bolivia):
Bolivian Football Federation has been established in 1926 and it is one of the 10 member of South American Football Confederation. Managed by Julio César Baldivieso, La Verde have gone through difficult times since their second place finish at Copa America 1997.
Three-time World Cup participants have last appeared at the global stage in 1994 and they have never gone past the first round on any of the three tournaments, scoring only one goal at the tournament held in the USA. Bolivia took part in 24 Copa America tournaments since their debut in 1926 and the most prominent result was their 1963 title.
Luis Hector Cristaldo and Marco Sandy are the two players with most caps for Bolivia with their 93 international appearances, while Joaquin Botero’s name still stands at the top of the scoring charts with the former Bolivian international netting 20 during his time with the national team.
