Poland
England will be looking to build on back-to-back wins over San Marino (5-0) and Albania (2-0) when they take on Poland at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Three Lions kicked off their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign in great manner, and it is no wonder they are seen as favourites to beat Poland in London. Harry Kane, who scored the opener in the victory over Albania, will be the man to watch in the home team. Gareth Southgate is unlikely to make changes to the starting XI.
The Poles, on the other hand, recorded a routine 3-0 win over Andorra in their second group game. Paulo Sousa’s troops have been scoring goals for fun in the World Cup qualifiers, but England are likely to pose a much bigger threat for the visitors than their previous rivals. Robert Lewandowski, who scored a brace in the triumph over Andorra, misses the match through injury, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Harry Kane):
Widely regarded as one of England’s best strikers at the moment, Harry Kane enjoyed a meteoric rise at Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 21 Premier League goals during the 2014/2015 campaign to be voted PFA Young Player of the Year.
The highly rated striker went on to surpass that achievement the following season as he helped Tottenham Hotspur mount a serious title challenge for the first time in club’s recent history and he made seamless transition to international football. Kane scored four goals in his first ten appearances for England to prove he was here to stay and at the same time established himself as a first choice striker in Roy Hodgson’s squad ahead of the Euro 2016 finals.
Kane is a modern striker, who is extremely dangerous in the opposition box, but it was some outstanding goals from distance as well as link-up play with teammates that earned him an excellent reputation in world football. Kane is expected to lead both Tottenham and England in years to come, that is if he can resist the lure of top European clubs that continue to cast admiring glances his way.

Poland have recently emerged as one of Europe’s top sides, although they did enjoy some success during the 70’s and 80’s. The White Eagles impressed to achieve third-place finish at the 1974 and 1982 World Cup tournaments, while they also win the 1972 Olympics, albeit with an amateur side.
Poland started showing improvement at the turn of the century, slowly becoming regular at major tournaments and they even co-hosted the Euro 2012 with Ukraine, but disappointed home fans to crash out in the group stage. The new generation, boasting players like Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik, Lukas Piszczek, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Jakub Blaszczykowski, has the potential to help the national team return to old glory days, with some talented players also coming through the youth ranks.
Zbigniew Boniek, Wlodzimierz Lubanski and Grzegorz Lato are some of the other players who have impressed playing for the national team, which has been playing their home games at the National Stadium in Warsaw.
