Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Lincoln will look to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Gillingham when they face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. The Imps are on a three-game losing run in the League One, with the team dropping to 18th place in the standings. Lincoln are desperate to escape the danger zone, but they face an uphill task on Matchday 37. Both Lewis Montsma and Tom Hopper should miss out with injuries, speaking of the home side.
The Owls, on the other hand, are eyeing their fourth consecutive league win. Sheffield Wednesday are eager to stay in the playoffs berth, and they should take advantage of Lincoln’s anything but good form. A man to watch in the away team will be experienced midfielder Barry Bannan, who impressed in the 5-2 crushing of Burton with two goals and one assist.
Highlighted Player (Liam Bridcutt ):
Liam Robert Bridcutt is a professional footballer who plays for Lincoln City as a defensive midfielder. Born in Reading, England on May 8, 1989, Bridcutt is a product of the Chelsea football academy, but he did not see any game action for the Blues at senior level. After ending his loan spells with Yeovil Town, Watford, and Stockport County, the 175-cm footballer signed a five-month contract with Brighton where he established himself as a first-team regular.
After making 132 appearances in the league for the Seagulls, Liam Bridcutt moved to Sunderland in the winter of 2014. He played for the likes of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers as well before joining Lincoln City in January, 2020.
His main position is defensive midfield, but he is used as a central midfielder as well. The Lincoln City player has a dual citizenship (Scotland/England), and it has to be noted that he has two caps with the Scotland national team.
Highlighted Team (Sheffield Wednesday):
Sheffield Wednesday are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Sheffield (South Yorkshire). The Owls compete in the English second tier (Championship) and they play their home matches at Hillsborough.
The venue was the scene of the Hillsborough disaster which occurred in 1989 when 96 Liverpool supporters were crushed to death in the FA Cup semi-final. It has to be noted that the World Cup (1966) and the Euro (1996) matches were played at Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday have won four First Division trophies (1902/2903, 1903/1904, 1928/1929, 1929/2930) and they finished the 1960/1961 campaign in second place in the standings. The Owls have clinched three FA Cup trophies (1896, 1907, 1935), with the team winning the League Cup in 1991.
Sheffield Wednesday defeated English giants Manchester United (1-0) in the title game. Sheffield United are regarded as the Owls’ main rivals and the two teams face each other in the Steel City derby.
