Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Out-of-sorts Newcastle United will be aiming to put an end to their three-game losing run in the Premier League when they take on Leeds United on Matchday 20. The Magpies failed to find the net in the previous four games in all competitions, and, no doubt, they are eager to put an end to the negative trend. Federico Fernadnez remains in the recovery room, while fellow defender Ciaran Clark should recover in time to face the Whites.
Leeds United aim to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Brighton. The Whites have been struggling in front of goal of late as well, but they should take advantage of Newcastle United’s form in 2021. Even though Koch, Forshaw, and Grot are out of contention with injuries, we are tempted to put our money on Marcelo Bielsa’s troops this time out.
Highlighted Player (DeAndre Yedlin):
DeAndre Yedlin is a versatile 22-year-old young American footballer who is currently on loan at Sunderland from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. His primary position is as a right-back but Yedlin can also play as a wingback or a wide midfielder. He is known for his speed on the wings and getting great crosses on the flanks.
Yedlin was part of Washington Youth Soccer’s State Olympic Development Program from 2006-09 before joining the Seattle Sounders FC youth academy in 2010. He played college soccer at the University of Akron starting in 20 games for the Zips.
Yedlin soon made his mark with Seattle Sounders and earned the record of becoming the first rookie to be named to the MLS team of the Week on his professional debut and the second rookie to make it to the All-star team. He earned his senior team debut in 2014 and has 33 caps to his name.
Highlighted Team (Leeds United):
Leeds United is one of the clubs that won the FA Cup. The Whites outplayed Arsenal in the final of the prestigious competition back in 1972, but they clinched the League Cup trophy as well. Leeds United faced the Gunners in the 1967/1968 League Cup final and it has to be noted that Terry Cooper scored the winner for the Whites.
Leeds play their home games at Elland Road and the capacity of the stadium is 37,914. The club was founded in 1919 and they have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies ever since (1968/1969, 1973/1974, 1991/1992). Leeds United made it to the Champions League final in 1975, but they were beaten by Bayern Munich in the title clash.
The Whites were impressive under David O’Leary. The likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Bowyer, Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Ian Harte were part of the Elland Road outfit back then and they did well to reach the semis of the Champions League in 2001.
