Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Spotland Stadium will host Tuesday’s football game between Rochdale and MK Dons, the two bottom-table sides. Rochdale have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team losing to both Oxford United and Charlton, while beating Bristol Rovers. Since the Dale have recorded no more than one win at home ground this season, we are not tempted to put our money on Brian Barry-Murphy’s troops.
MK Dons, on the other hand, head into the midweek clash following a 2-2 draw with Sunderland. The Dons have been showing signs of improvement of late, and given Rochdale’s poor home record, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the visitors. Jake Beesley is injured for the hosts, while there are no absentees in the away team. In the first half of the season MK Dons defeated Rochdale 2-1, which is yet another reason why away win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Ryan McLaughlin):
Ryan McLaughlin is a Northern Ireland international who plays for Rochdale in the League One as a right-back. McLaughlin started his youth career at Glenavon back in 2009 and two years later he was spotted by Liverpool scouts, who persuaded him to join the Reds youth academy.
However, instead of playing for Liverpool at senior level, the Northern Ireland defender spent two seasons on loan at Barnsley and Aberdeen before moving to Oldham Athletic. After scoring three goals in 52 league appearances for the club, Ryan McLaughlin joined Rochdale in 2019 for an undisclosed fee.
McLaughlin made his League One debut with the Dale on January 26, 2019 in a 2-1 loss at Barnsley. Speaking of his international career, the pacey right-back made his Northern Ireland debut on May 31, 2014 in a friendly against Uruguay. It has to be noted that the Rochdale defender can be used as both left-back and right midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (MK Dons):
Based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes Dons are a League One club that welcome their rivals at Stadium MK. The venue was opened in 2007 and can hold up to 30,500 spectators. Milton Keynes Dons play their home games in white shirts and white shorts, whilst their away kit is red.
The Dons are one of the youngest clubs in England as they were founded in 2004, but they are well known for youth development. English attacker is the club’s all-time top goal-scorer, netting 62 goals in 165 appearances for MK Dons. Dele Alli, who currently plays for Tottenham Hotspur, is the most famous footballer to have played for the Milton Keynes Dons, netting 18 goals in 62 appearances for the club in the league.
Speaking of notable coaches, it has to be noted that former Liverpool superstar Robbie Fowler and ex German international Dietmar Hamman were in charge of the club.
