Our prediction for this Serie A match:
After suffering a 3-1 loss to Inter in the Serie A derby, Lazio will be looking to give fans something to cheer about when they take on Sampdoria at their Stadio Olimpico on Matchday 23. The Biancocelesti aim to stay in the Champions League race, and we are positive that they will fight tooth and nail against La Samp. Both Luis Felipe and Strakosha remain in the recovery room, while Hoedt is banned for the match. Radu is a major doubt.
Sampdoria, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-1 win over Fiorentina, but they will have big fish to fry in Saturday’s clash against Simone Inzaghi’s troops. Even though Claudio Ranieri has a full squad to choose from, we are tempted to put our money on Lazio, who have turned their Stadio Olimpico into a real fortress. In their last meeting in Rome the Biancocelesti crushed La Samp 5-1.
Highlighted Player (Bastos Quissanga):
Born in Luanda (Angola) on November 23, 1991, Bastos Jacinto Quissanga is a powerful defender who plays for Serie A side Lazio. Bastos started his senior career at domestic club Petro de Luanda and after scoring 6 goals in 105 appearances in the league for Os Tricolores, he moved to Russia in 2013, signing a deal with the Premier League side Rostov.
The 184-cm-tall defender proved his worth in the Russian top flight and, as expected, he decided to take a step forward in his career, signing a contract with famous Serie A team Lazio. Bastos failed to establish himself as a first-team regular with the Biancocelesti, but he plays an important role at the Angola national team. Bastos, whose main position is centre-back, made his international debut for the Palancas Negras on August 10, 2011 in a goalless draw against Liberia. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Sampdoria):
Sampdoria is an Italian football club from Genoa which is currently playing in the highest Italian football division: the Serie A. The club colours of Sampdoria are blue and white and is known under the nickname Blucerchiati. Sampdoria host it’s home games in the Stadio Luigi Ferraris which is located in Genua. Interesting detail is that their biggest city rival Genoa is playing their home games in Stadio Luigi Ferraris as well.
In the past Sampdoria was playing in the Serie B and Serie A on and off. After the big successes in the end of the eighties the club became a stable team in the Serie A. Sampdoria managed to win the Scudetto once in 1991, the Coppa Italia 4 times in 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1994 and the Europe Cup II in 1990.
There are a lot of important players in football history that played for Sampdoria such as: Seedorf, Gullit, Mancini, Poli, Vieri, Zenga, Falcone, Karembeu, Vialli, Klinsmann and Veron.
