Rennes
Stade Maurice Dufrasne will host Saturday’s friendly between Standard Liege and Rennes, the two teams who meet for the first time in a warm-up game. The Red Devils have been having their ups and downs in preseason, but they quickly bounced back from a shocking loss to lower-league side Rochefort. Standard aim to return to winning ways following a 2-2 draw with Mechelen, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Saturday’s game.
Les Rouges et Noirs, on the other hand, were anything but impressive in a 2-2 draw with Le Havre, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the Jupiler League outfit. Summer signing Denis Dragus, who found the net in the draw with Mechelen, will be one of the men to watch in the home team.
Highlighted Player (Mehdi Carcela-González):
Despite being born in Liege, Belgium on July 1, 1989, Mehdi Carcela represents Morocco on the international stage. Carcela initially chose to play for his country of birth Belgium, taking part in two friendlies with the Red Devils, but in February 2011 he made his debut with Morocco.
He represented Morocco at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia, but the African side failed to make it to the knockout stages of the showpiece tournament. Speaking of his club career, Mehdi Carcela played for the likes of Standard Liege, Anzhi, Benfica, Granada and Olympiakos (on loan). He currently plays for Standard Liege on loan from Granada.
Mehdi Carcela’s main position is right winger, but he is capable of playing as both attacking midfielder and left winger as well. In the 2008/2009 season the Morocco international won the Belgian Pro League with Standard and seven seasons later he repeated the success with Benfica as the Eagles won Primeira Liga. His preferred foot is left.

Stade Rennais Football Club or simply Rennes is a French football club which was founded on March 10, 1901. The club is one of the founding members of the French Ligue 1 and they are nicknamed Les Rouges et Noirs. Roazhon Park is the club’s home ground and the venue can hold 29.778 people. Rennes have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy, but they won Coupe de France title on two occasions (1964/1965, 1970/1971). Speaking of Coupe de la Ligue, les Rouges et Noirs made it to the final of the competition in the 2012/2013 season, but they were beaten by Saint Etienne (1-0) in the title game at Stade de France.
