Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Sevilla play host to Salzburg at their Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in what is expected to be a very exciting game. Los Sevillanos were not in action in La Liga at the weekend, meaning that tired legs are unlikely to prove to be a big problem for the home team. Considering that Julen Lopetegui can count on key players for the Champions League opener, home win should be considered. A man to watch in the home team will be Morocco international Youssef En Nesyri, who continues where he left last term.
The Red Bulls, on the other hand, booked their place in the Champions League group stages by beating Brondby in the two-legged tie. However, we are not tempted to put our money on the Austrian champions this time out as Sevilla have turned their Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan into a real fortress. Ex Sevilla footballer Maximiliam Wober has joined Junuzovic, Koita, and Vallci in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Diego Carlos):
Diego Carlos Santos Silva is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Nantes as a defender. His main position is centre-back and his preferred foot is right. Diego Carlos began his youth career at America-SP and in 2010 he moved to Desportivo Brasil. After spending the 2012/2013 season on loan at Sao Paulo, the 185-cm-tall defender returned to Desportivo Brasil.
However, he made his first-team debut with Madureira during his spell with the club (2014). In 2014 Diego Carlos signed a contract with Portuguese club Estoril Praia and he scored two goals in 39 appearances for the Primeira Liga club. It has to be noted, though, that he played for Porto B (on loan) in the 2014/2015 season.
Diego Carlos moved to French club Nantes in the summer of 2016 and you should bear in mind that he quickly established himself as a first-team regular with les Canaris. The Brazilian footballer scored two goals in 34 appearances for Nantes in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign. His contract with the Ligue 1 side expires on June 20, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Salzburg):
Salzburg are a professional football club that compete in Austrian Bundesliga. The club’s main sponsors are Red Bull and, as a result, they are well known under the name of the Red Bulls. The club was founded on 13 September, 1933 and they won their first Austrian Bundesliga trophy in 1994.
Salzburg quickly established themselves as the dominant force in the national championship and they are the most successful Austrian club in the 21st century. It has to be noted that they won their tenth Austrian Premier League trophy in 2016, finishing the season nine points clear of second-placed Rapid Wien.
The Red Bulls welcome their rivals at Red Bull Arena, the stadium that was opened on 8 March, 2008. The capacity of the venue is 31 895. Salzburg participated in the 1993/1994 UEFA Cup final, but Italian side proved to be a big catch for the Austrian outfit. Inter recorded a 2-0 win over Salzburg in the final (on aggregate).
