Our prediction for this Championship match:
Saturday’s football game at Weston Homes Stadium pits together Peterborough United and Birmingham City, the two sides who sit in the opposite halves of the table ahead of Matchday 8. The newcomers do not seem to be competitive at this level, with the team losing each of their previous four league fixtures. Given their shaky defence, we do not believe that there is a big value in betting on the Posh.
Both Ricky-Jade Jones and Mark Breevers are out of contention with injuries for the home team. The Blues, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Fulham, and seeing that they will not have a better chance than this to get back on course, away win should be considered. Neil Etheridge remains quarantined, but he should be the only absentee in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Mark Beevers):
Born in Barnsley, England on November 21, 1989, Mark Beevers is a 193-cm tall defender who plays for Peterborough United. The product of Sheffield Wednesday football school made 140 appearances in the league for the Owls before signing a permanent deal with fellow Championship club Millwall.
Mark Beevers scored 7 goals in 117 appearances for the Lions, playing for the club until the 2016 transfer window. The English defender then moved to Bolton where he scored 11 goals in 121 appearances in the league.
In May 2019 Mark Beevers signed a three-year deal with Peterborough United. He made his League One debut with the Posh in a 3-1 loss to Fleetwood Town on August 3, 2019. His main position is centre-back, but he is used as a left-back as well. His preferred foot is left and he has a contract with Peterborough United which should expire on June 30, 2022.
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
