Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Allianz Stadium will host Tuesday’s Serie A game between Juventus and Cagliari, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2021/2022 season. The Bianconeri aim to build on a 2-0 win over Bologna, and a triumph over Cagliari will see them move closer to the Champions League berth. Alvaro Morata should continue to lead the line for Juve after finding the net in the triumph over the Rossoblu, while all Chiesa, Ramsey, and Danilo are out of contention through injuries.
The likes of Chiellini, Dybala, and Pellegrini are rated doubtful for the match. The Sardinians, on the other hand, aim to escape the relegation zone. Cagliari, though, have been struggling at the back of late, and given Juve’s signs of improvement, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. All Walukiewicz, Nandez, Rog, and Strootman are sidelined with injuries, whilst Marin is banned for the match.
Highlighted Player (Leonardo Bonucci):
Over the years Leonardo Bonucci has established himself as one of Juve’s key defenders. The 190-cm-tall centre back, who is capable of playing as a right back as well, was born in Viterbo on 1 May, 1987 and he started his senior career at Inter. However, he made no more than one league appearance for the Nerrazzurri between 2005 and 2009.
After ending his loan spells with the likes of Treviso and Pisa, he joined Bari in 2009 and he scored one goal in 38 league games for the club. Juventus signed him in July, 2010 for a fee of €15.5 million. Leonardo Bonucci won his fifth Scudetto with Juve in the 2015/2016 season and he played in the 2014/2015 Champions League final against Barcelona. However, the Bianconeri were beaten by Barca in the title game.
Bonucci made his Italy debut on 3 March, 2010 and two years later he participated in the Euro 2012 final against Spain. The Azzurri were hammered by Vicente del Bosque’s troops 4-0 in the Olympic Stadium clash.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
