Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Ipswich Town will be looking to make amends for a 2-0 loss to Bolton when they welcome Accrington to their Portman Road on Matchday 29. Following back-to-back wins over Wycombe and Gillingham, the Tractors suffered a 2-0 loss to Bolton in their last league match. Ipswich aim to move closer to the playoffs berth, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at the Accy Stanley. Both Celina and Vincent-Young are pushing for a start.
Accrington, on the other hand, have drawn each of their previous three league fixtures. John Coleman’s troops are seven points behind the playoffs places, and, no doubt, they want to return to winning ways as soon as possible. Since both sides are likely to go for a win in Saturday’s clash, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. Defender Ross Sykes is banned for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Lee Evans):
Lee Evans is a right-footed footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic in the Championship. Evans played for the likes of Malpas FC, Bristol Rovers and Newport County during his youth career and he continued playing for the Ironsides at senior level.
The 186-cm-tall midfielder then joined the Wolves, scoring 3 goals in 59 appearances for the club in the league. After ending his loan spells with Bradford City and Wigan Athletic, the Wales international moved to Sheffield United in the winter of 2018 for an undisclosed fee. However, at the end of the 2017/2018 season he returned to Wigan Athletic (loan).
After making 21 appearances for the club, Lee Evans signed a permanent deal with the Latics on January 1, 2019. Speaking of his international career, the Wigan Athletic midfielder made his Wales debut on November 14, 2017 in a 1-1 draw with Panama. His main position is central midfield, but he is used as a defensive midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
