Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Wigan will be aiming to extend their winning run to six games in all competitions when they take on Gillingham in the League One round 29. The Latics did well to beat Morecambe 2-1 in their last league match, with the team climbing to automatic promotion places. Wigan have four games in hand, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as No. 1 candidates to return to the Championship. Anyhow, they will have to beat their sharpest in the remainder of the season if they are to turn the dream into reality.
Stephen Humphrys is pushing for a rare start after scoring as a substitute in the last league match. The Gills, on the other hand, will find it hard to secure the League one survival as they are nine points behind the safe zone. Considering that the relegation strugglers suffered four defeats in the previous five league fixtures, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise.
