Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Portman Road will host Saturday’s League One game between Ipswich Town and Gillingham, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the remainder of the season. Ipswich are eyeing a place in the playoffs, while Gillingham’s main goal is to secure yet another League One survival. The Tractor Boys suffered a 1-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, but it has to be noted that they failed to turn their dominance in possession into goals.
Ipswich Town defeated both Wycombe and Accrington in the previous two home fixtures, which is giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Saturday’s clash. Experienced attacker James Norwood is widely expected to return to the starting XI. The Gills, on the other hand, are eight points behind the safe zone. The relegation strugglers did well to beat Crewe at home in their last league match, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry at Portman Road. Mustapha Carayol is a major doubt after limping off with injury in the triumph over Crewe.
