Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Sunday’s football game at Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere pits together Real Oviedo and Leganes, the two teams who were beaten by Andorra and Alaves respectively in their season openers. Los Azules aim to get back on course as soon as possible, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the capital club. Keep in mind that Real Oviedo managed to keep a clean sheet in each of their previous two meetings with Leganes, and they are likely to rely on their solid defence in Sunday’s clash as well.
Keep in mind that important attacker Sergi Enrich is banned for the match. Leganes, on the other hand, were anything but impressive in the loss to Alaves. Fit-again midfielder Feder is pushing for a start, as well as Morocco international Yacine Qasmi. Anyhow, a low-scoring affair is on the horizon as Leganes often struggle up front when playing on the road.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Arribas ):
Born in Madrid, Spain on May 1, 1989, Alejandro Arribas is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Oviedo in La Liga 2. Arribas is a very experienced defender as he played for Primera Division sides Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna, Deportivo La Coruna and Sevilla in the past.
He is a product of Rayo Majadahonda football school, but he did not see any game action with the club at senior level. Alejandro Arribas played for Mexican club UNAM before signing a three-year deal with Real Oviedo in the summer of 2019.
He made his debut with los Azules in a 2-1 loss to Fuenlabrada on August 31, 2019. The towering defender has never received a call-up for the Spain national football team. His main position is centre-back, but he can be used as a right-back as well if needed. The right-footed footballer has a contract with Real Oviedo until June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Leganes):
Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success.
Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby.
The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past. Lady Maria Victoria Pavon is the first female president in the history of the club and she has been in charge of the club since 2009.
