Our prediction for this Europa League match:
After surviving Crvena zvezda at Stadion Rajko Mitic, Monaco will look to overtake Ferencvaros in top position in Group H when the two sides face each other at Stade Louis II on Thursday. Les Rouges et Blancs are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but the Green-Whites should not be written off just yet. Summer signing Breel Embolo is widely expected to return to the starting XI after scoring the winner against Zvezda, while all Boadu, Geubbels, and Volland should miss out with injuries.
The Hungarian champions, on the other hand, defeated Trabzonspor 3-2 at home in their opener, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against the Ligue 1 outfit, who reinforced the squad in the summer transfer window. As for the visitors, Eldar Civic is banned for the match, while fellow defender Rasmus Thelander remains in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Breel Embolo):
Born in Younde, Cameroon on February 14, 1997, Breel Embolo is a striker who plays for Bundesliga side Schalke 04. Embolo began his youth career at Nordstern back in 2008, but two years later he moved to Old Boys.
In 2010 the Switzerland international joined Basel and he continued playing for the RotBlau at senior level. After scoring 21 goals in 61 appearances for the club in the Swiss Super League, Breel Embolo signed a five-year deal with Schalke 04 in June, 2016 for a fee of €20 million.
The Schalke striker made his Bundesliga debut on August 27 in a 1-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt. Speaking of his international career, Breel Embolo has four caps for Switzerland U21 team and he made his senior debut on March 31, 2015 in a 1-1 draw with United States of America. Embolo is very powerful striker, he is technically strong, he has explosive pace and a composed finisher.
Highlighted Team (Ferencvaros):
Established back in 1899, Ferencvaros are the most successful Hungarian club. The Zold Sasok clinched their 30th domestic trophy in the 2018/2019 season, but they eventually failed to book their place in the Champions League. Dinamo Zagreb proved to be a big catch for Ferencvaros in the Champions League play-offs, but the Green Eagles booked their spot in the Europa League group stages for the first time ever the same season.
Ferencvaros are well known for their green and white home kit, but they wear white shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. Ujpest are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, whilst Ferencvaros and MTK Budapest face each other in the Eternal derby.
Honved are seen as the club’s bitter rivals as well. Back in 1975 the Zold Sasok made it to the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup, with the team losing to Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev in the title game. Sandor Kocsis, who scored 75 goals in 68 appearances for the Hungarian national team, is the club’s most notable footballer.
