Our prediction for this Championship match:
After suffering a 1-0 loss to Huddersfield before the international break, Cardiff City will be aiming to get back on course when they take on Burnley on Saturday afternoon. The Bluebirds have been underperforming in the first half of the season, and given their difficulties in front of goal, we do not believe that home win should be considered. Ireland international Callum Robinson should keep his place up front despite failing to convert a penalty in the last league match, while all Joe Ralls, Kion Etete, and Jamilu Collins remain in the recovery room.
The Clarets, on the other hand, have been making progress week by week, with the team climbing to fourth place thanks to a 2-1 win over Bristol City. Burnley have been in a much better form of late than Cardiff City, and seeing that Bluebirds suit them, we are going to put our money on the away side. Both Scott Twine and Ashley Westwood are injured for the promotion-chasing visitors.
Highlighted Player (Callum Robinson):
Born in Northampton, Callum Robinson started his career at Aston Villa. Having gone through the youth ranks with the Villans, Robinson was given his first-team debut in 2013. As a product of the Aston Villa academy, Robinson unfortunately never got a chance to prove his worth at the club and ended up playing no less than 4 league appearances during his three-year stay at Villa Park.
Various loan spells – at Preston North End on two occasions and Bristol City – brought mixed fortunes for the striker up until 2016 when he sealed a permanent move with the Lillywhites. Robinson represented England at U16, U17, U19 and U20 levels but raised plenty of eyebrows when he declared for the Republic of Ireland in March 2018 through his late grandmother who was from Monaghan.
The striker made his senior team breakthrough in Republic of Ireland’s 2-2 draw with Celtic in Scott Brown’s testimonial match and will be hoping to prove doubters wrong and prove his motive is bigger than career opportunism.
Highlighted Team (Burnley):
Burnley were one of the founding members of the Football League back in 1888. The Clarets did remarkably well to win the FA Cup trophy back in 1914 and the club owners have been trying to bring glory days back to Turf Moor ever since.
Burnley defeated Liverpool in the 1913/1914 FA Cup final and, no doubt, this is regarded as the greatest achievement in the club’s history. The Clarets finished the 2015/2016 Championship campaign in top position in the standings and, as a result, they will participate in the English Premier League in the 2016/2017 season.
Burnley play their home games at Turf Moor and the capacity of the stadium is 21,401. The Clarets have won two Community Shield trophies so far, in 1960 and 1973, but they have yet to clinch the Premier League title. Claret is the dominant colour of the team’s home shirts.
