Our prediction for this MLS match:
Buoyed by a 2-0 win over their local rivals New York Red Bulls, New York City will look to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they face Orlando City on Sunday evening. The Blue Pigeons have already sealed their spot in the playoffs, but they are now on a quest to secure a top-four finish. Midfielder Aldredo Morales remains in the recovery room, but he should be the only absentee in the home team.
The Lions, on the other hand, picked up vital three points from their last league match, with the team crushing Toronto 4-0, but head coach Oscar Pareja must warn his men against complacency. Anyhow, the share of spoils is on the horizon as both sides should be happy with one point from Sunday’s clash. All Robin Jansson, Alexandre Pato, and Joey DeZart should miss out with injuries for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Alfredo Morales):
Alfredo Morales is an American football player who was born in Berlin on 12 May, 1990. The USA midfielder moved to Germany as a boy and he played for the likes of BSC Reinickendorf 21, Borussia Pankow, FC Concordia Wilhelmsruh and Hertha BSC during his youth career.
Morales played 81 games for Hertha II at senior level, scoring 11 league goals for the capital club. He made 20 appearances for the first team as well, but in 2013 he joined Ingolstadt on a two-year deal. Alfredo Morales was eligible to play for both Germany and USA, but he decided to represent the Yanks on the international level.
The 183-cm-tall midfielder made his USA debut on 29 January, 2013 against Canada. He came as a substitute 15 minutes before the final whistle. It has to be noted that Morales represented United States of America at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as both centre back and a defensive midfielder.
Highlighted Team (Orlando City):
Orlando City are a member of the Eastern Conference in Major League Soccer. The Lions have been participating in the major league since 2015 and they host their rivals at Orlando City Stadium. The venue was opened in February, 2017 and the construction of the stadium cost $155 million. Orlando City finished the 2015 MLS season in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and they failed to make it to the play-offs in the 2016 season as well (8th place).
Brazilian ace Kaka is undisputedly the club’s most famous player and the former Real Madrid and Milan man became the highest-paid player in MLS history. His base salary was $6.6 million per year and it has to be noted that the Brazilian superstar found the net on his Orlando City debut against FC Dallas (friendly). Orlando City’s home kit is violet, while they wear white and violet shirts and white socks on the travels. The club’s official mascot is Kingston the Lion.
