Groningen
Emmen will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Vitesse when they take on Groningen in the Eredivisie round 12. Emmen are not enjoying a successful first half of the season, with the team collecting only six points in total to date. The hosts are desperate to escape the relegation zone, and we are positive that they will fight tooth and nail against Groningen. All Lucas Bernadou, Jeff Hardeveld, and Maikel Kieftenbeld should miss out with injuries.
The Pride of the North, on the other hand, did well to shock star-studded PSV in their last league match, with the triumph giving them a confidence boost. The Green and Whites aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, and given Emmen’s difficulties at the back, away win should definitely be considered. A man to watch in the away team will be talented USA attacker Ricardo Pepi, who has found his goal-scoring touch of late, while both Nordin Musampa and Michael Verrips are major doubts.

Born in Zwolle, Netherlands on March 9, 1989, Anco Jansen is a pacey winger who started his senior career in his home-town club FC Zwolle. After scoring two goals in 40 league appearances for the club, he joined Groningen in 2008, but he did not see any game action with the Green and White Army in the Eredivisie.
Anco Jansen played for the likes of Cambuur, SC Veendam, De Graafschap, Roda JC, and Boluspor as well before joining FC Emmen in 2017. Anco Jansen made his Eredivisie debut with FC Emmen in a 2-1 win over ADO Den Haag on August 12, 2018, with the winger finding the net after 42 minutes.
His main position is left winger, but he is used as both centre-forward and attacking midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right. Anco Jansen has yet to earn a call-up with the Netherlands national football team.

The Trots van het Noorden (Pride of the North) are well known for their white home shirts with red stripes, while purple is the dominant colour of their away kit. Volendam are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, but they have a rivalry with Twente as well after the 1980s incidents between their fans. Groningen have yet to win the Eredivisie trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Dutch Cup in the 2014/15 season.
