Our prediction for this EFL Cup match:
London Stadium will host Wednesday’s EFL Cup game between West Ham United and Blackburn Rovers, the two teams who meet for the first time since February 2016. Back then West Ham rolled over Blackburn 5-1 in the FA Cup, and the Hammers are seen as favourites to win the midweek game as well. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team, but all Antonio, Fornals, Lanzini, Ogbonna, and Coufal should be recalled to the starting XI.
The Riversiders, on the other hand, continue to rely on Ben Brereton Diaz, who scored the winner against Huddersield Town at the weekend, but given their poor away record in the Championship, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. Both Barnes and Phillips are injured for the away team, while aforementioned striker Ben Brereton Diaz could be given a rest.
