Our prediction for this Premier League match:
There will be fireworks when Chelsea and Liverpool face each other at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League derby. The Blues aim to recover from a shocking 2-0 loss to Aston Villa, and a win over Liverpool will see them move closer to the Conference League berth. Boss Graham Potter was sacked only one day after the defeat, and it remains to be seen if that will have a positive impact on the players. Both Raheem Sterling and Wesley Fofana should recover in time to face the Reds, while all Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Edouard Mendy, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Armando Broja remain on the sidelines with injuries.
Jurgen Klopp’s troops, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Man City, and seeing that the visitors will go for a win as well, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. As for the away side, Tuesday’s clash comes too early for Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz, while Darwin Nunez should be recalled to the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Mateo Kovacic):
Born to Croatian parents in Linz, Austria, Mateo Kovacic spent seven years in the LASK Linz youth academy before joining Dinamo Zagreb, where he showed a great deal of potential shortly after being promoted to the senior squad.
The good return of 7 goals in 43 league appearances saw him secure a high-profile move to Inter Milan, where he acted as both holding midfielder and attacking midfielder, during the three years at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. And despite not exactly impressing in Italy, Kovacic was purchased by mighty Real Madrid, where he has been ever since. The youngster is widely regarded as one of Croatia’s most talented footballers at the moment and he has represented the country on international stage since the age of 19.
In just three years he managed to make over 25 appearances for the national team, playing at the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016 finals for Vatreni. Kovavic has yet to be given a real chance to impress at Real Madrid, but he has entire future ahead of him.
Highlighted Team (Liverpool):
Founded back in 1892, Liverpool are one of England’s and world’s most famous clubs. The Reds hold a high-profile rivalry with Everton and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the Merseyside derby.
The Reds welcome their opponents at Anfield and it has to be noted that they have already won 18 first division trophies. Liverpool were on the verge of lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and left the Reds without a title.
Liverpool won one of their last Champions League trophy's in 2005, with the team coming from three goals behind to beat Milan in a historic clash in Istanbul. The Reds have clinched six European Cups and it is no surprise they are regarded as one of the greatest European clubs.
The likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Paul Ince, Ian Rush, Graeme Souness, Sami Hyypia and Luis Suarez are some of the most notable footballers to have represented the club over the years. The club’s anthem is You’ll Never Walk Alone and their shirt colour is red.
