Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin square off against each other at Signal Iduna Park in what is expected to be one of the most interesting games of Saturday’s program. The Yellow-Blacks failed to impress in der Klassiker, with the team losing to Bayern Munich 4-2, but keep in mind that they are on a seven-game winning run on home soil. Since Borussia Dortmund crushed Koln 6-1 in their last home fixture, it is no wonder that odds for home triumph have been dropping.
USA forward Giovanni Reyna should recover in time to face Union Berlin, while all Nico Schlotterbeck, Thomas Meunier, Julien Duranville, Abdoulaye Kamara, and Mateu Morey remain in the recovery room. The capital club, on the other hand, produce much better showings at home than on the travels, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered. Both Frederik Ronnow and Paul Seguin are major doubts, while Andras Schafer remains on the sidelines with a foot injury.
Highlighted Player (Marco Reus):
Marco Reus is a German football player who was born on 31 May, 1989. The pacey attacking midfielder, who is capable of playing as a winger as well, started his senior career at Rot Weiss Ahlen and it has to be noted that he made 43 league appearances for the club in lower leagues.
In 2009 he signed a four-year contract with Borussia M’gladbach and he scored his first Bundesliga goal against Mainz on 28 August, 2009. After impressing with the Fohlen in the 2011/2012 Bundesliga campaign, he joined Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season. He has been playing for the Millionaires ever since and he represents Germany on the international stage as well.
However, he was more than unfortunate to miss the 2014 FIFA World Cup with injury when Joachim Low’s team lifted the prestigious trophy. To make things even worse for Marco Reus, he was forced to withdraw from the Germany Euro 2016 squad as well (injury). The German ace has a contract with Borussia Dortmund which expires on 30 June, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Union Berlin):
Union Berlin are a German football club originally founded back in 1906. Die Eisernen play home games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei which can hold up to 22,012 spectators. Union Berlin’s home kit is red, with the team wearing white shirts and white shorts on the travels.
Union Berlin finished the 1923 domestic campaign as runners-up, with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Hamburger SV in the title game. Speaking of the club’s biggest success in the German Cup, die Eisernen made it to the final of the competition in the 2000/2001 season. Schalke, though, proved to be a big catch for Union Berlin in the decider, with Jorg Bohme scoring a brace for die Knappen (2-0).
Union Berlin will face their local rivals Hertha in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season as they secured promotion to the German top flight, but Hansa Rostock are considered the club’s main rivals.
