Our prediction for this Championship match:
All eyes will be on Turf Moor when Burnley and Sheffield United face each other in the Championship derby. Thanks to a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough Burnley secured automatic Premier League promotion, but they do not want to stop now. Vincent Kompany’s men aim to put icing on the cake, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at the Blades. Darko Churlinov should be the only absentee in the home team, while both Vitinho and Jack Cork could sneak into the starting XI.
The visitors, on the other hand, are eager to stay in automatic promotion berth. Since both sides should be happy with one point from Monday’s derby, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. This match comes too early for Jack O’Connell, with Enda Stevens, Ben Osborn, Rhys Norrington-Davies, and Rhian Brewster missing out with injuries as well. Oliver Norwood is widely expected to start this time out.
Highlighted Player (Jay Rodríguez):
Having progressed through the youth ranks of his hometown club Burnley, Jay Rodriguez was rewarded with a professional debut against Bristol City in December 2007 as an 18-year-old boy. It wasn’t until the 2008/09 season when he began to show glimpses of proper promise for the Clarets, however.
With 15 goals and six assists in 37 Championship outings in 2011/12 campaign, Jay Rodriguez caught the eye of several Premier League clubs and it was Southampton who pounced for his signature in a £7 million deal. Six goals and eight assist in his debut Premier League season were followed by a breakthrough record of 15 goals and three assists in 33 matches of the 2013/14 campaign.
An unfortunate cruciate ligament injury sustained in April 2014 halted his progress as he sat through the entire 2014/15 season. It did not prevent West Bromwich Albion from making a move for Rodriguez in 2017, making him the first signing of the summer transfer window, worth a reported £12 million. The WBA forward features only once for England U21 in 2011 and made a single senior appearance – in a 2-0 defeat to Chile in November 2013.
Highlighted Team (Sheffield United):
Sheffield United are a professional football club that compete in the Championship. The Blades finished the 2016/2017 League One campaign in top position in the standings, with the team collecting exactly 100 points in the process. Sheffield United last competed in the Premier League in the 2006/2007 season and they were more than unfortunate not to secure the top flight survival.
The Blades finished the season in 18th place in the process and it has to be noted that they were level on points with Wigan Athletic, who managed to avoid the relegation to the English second tier. Sheffield United welcome their rivals at Bramal Lane, the stadium which was opened on April 30, 1855. The current capacity of the venue is 32.702.
The club have numerous rivalries, but the most notable one is the rivalry with their city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday. The two teams face each other in the Steel City derby and it has to be noted that United share rivalry with the likes of Barnsley, Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United as well.
