Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Real Sociedad will be aiming to cement their spot in the Champions League when they welcome Almeria to their Reale Arena on Tuesday evening. The Basques did well to shock newly-promoted champions Barcelona at the weekend and they are seen as hot favourites to win the midweek clash as well. Takefusa Kubo is widely expected to return to the starting XI, while all Mendez, Sadiq, and Merquelanz are out of contention with injuries.
The Andalusians, on the other hand, continue with their old habit of producing fine displays at home, while struggling on the travels. Considering that Almeria have already suffered 12 defeats on the road this term, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. Both Kaiky Melo and Martin Svidersky are sidelined with injuries, while Chumi and El Bilal Toure are major doubts and the duo will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
Highlighted Player (David Silva):
David Silva is a product of Valencia’s youth system. Born on 8 January, 1986, the highly rated footballer made his debut in the 2004/2005 campaign and went on to score a total of 21 goals for the Estadio de Mestalla outfit. In 2010, the Spanish midfielder signed a deal with Premier League side Manchester City and he has already won two domestic championships with the free-spending club.
In the 2015/2016 season David Silva and Co. faced Real Madrid in the Champions League semis, but the Spanish giants proved to be a big catch for the Citizens in the two-legged tie. Silva plays as an attacking midfielder, but he is capable of playing as winger or a second striker as well.
He is well known for his possession-retaining qualities and, as a result, he got the nicknames “Merlin” and “El Mago”. David Silva won the 2014 FIFA World Cup trophy with Spain, while winning Euro 2008 and Euro 2012 with La Roja as well.
Highlighted Team (Almeria):
UD Almeria is a Spanish club based in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Los Rojiblancos are one of the newer additions to the Spanish football system, with the club being founded on July 26, 1989.
Almeria suffered relegation to Segunda Division in the 2014/15 season, and they have been competing in the Spanish second tier ever since. Los Rojiblancos are well known for their white shirts with red stripes, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Sofiane Feghouli, Felipe Melo, Diego Alves, Veljko Paunovic, Aleix Vidal, Alvaro Negredo, Tomer Hemed, and Mate Bilic are some notable footballers who played for Almeria in the past. Fellow Andalusian clubs Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del Rey came in the 2010/11 season when they made it to the semis of the prestigious competition. Nonetheless, Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be a big catch for Almeria in the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
