Our prediction for this Scottish Premiership match:
Motherwell and Hibernian will lock horns at Fir Park in what is expected to be a close Scotland Premiership game. Motherwell enjoyed a very successful winning run in the League Cup last month, with the team kicking off the new Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Dundee FC. The Well are now eyeing their first league win of the season and we are positive that they will adopt an attacking oriented approach in Sunday’s clash. Calum Butcher remains on the sidelines with a foot injury, while Northern Ireland defender Nathan McGinley is pushing for a start.
The Hibs, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to St Mirren. As the visiting side will go for a win as well, we believe that punters from all around the world can find value in betting on both teams to score. A man to keep an eye on in the away team will be summer signing Christian Doidge, who has already found his goal-scoring touch, whereas all Harry McKirdy, Chris Cadden, and Joe Wollacott should miss out through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Christian Doidge):
Over the years Christian Doidge has established himself as one of the best attackers in Scotland Premiership. Born on August 25, 1992 in Newport, Doidge is a Wales international who plays for Hibernian in the Scottish top flight.
He is a product of the Southampton football academy, but he did not see any game action in the Premier League with the Saints. The towering striker played for Bristol Rovers during his youth career as well before joining Cwmbran Celtic at senior level. He played for the likes of Barry Town, Carmanthen Town, Dag & Red, Dartford (loan), Forest Green Rovers, and Bolton Wanderers (loan) as well before signing a deal with the Hibs.
Christian Doidge made his Scotland Premier League debut on August 3, 2019 in a 1-0 win over St. Mirren. The Wales attacker scored his first league goal for the Hibs against the same opponent three months late. Doidge has yet to receive a call-up for the Wales national football team.
Highlighted Team (Motherwell):
Motherwell are professional football club that compete in the Scotland Premiership. The Steelmen play home games at Fir Park, the stadium which can hold up to 13,677 spectators, wearing amber and claret shirts.
White, on the other hand, is the dominant colour of the club’s away kit. Founded in 1886, Motherwell won their first domestic trophy in the 1931/32 season, leaving Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic behind them in the standings. Speaking of the Scottish Cup, the Steelmen have two titles in the cup competition. In the 1951/52 season, Motherwell defeated Dundee 4-0 in the Scottish Cup final, with the team repeating the success 39 years later as they outplayed Dundee United 4-3 in the title game.
The likes of Hamilton Academical and Airdrieonians are regarded as the club’s bitterest rivals. The games between these clubs are known as the Lanarkshire derby. Hughie Ferguson is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart as he netted 284 goals for the Steelmen in league matches.
