Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Sparkles will be flying when Tottenham and West Ham United face each other in the London derby on Thursday evening. Following three consecutive league defeats, Spurs did well to hold reigning champions Man City to a 3-3 draw at the weekend, with the team regaining a much-needed confidence. The capital club are eager to put an end to their four-match winless run, but keep in mind that the likes of James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ivan Perisic, Micky van de Ven, and Pape Sarr remain in the recovery room.
The Hammers, on the other hand, played out a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in their last league match. West Ham aim to stay in top ten, but seeing that they have suffered three defeats in the previous four away matches, we are tempted to put our money on Ange Postecoglou’s troops. In their last meeting at the venue Tottenham defeated West Ham 2-0 and we predict that history is going to repeat itself.
Highlighted Player (Heung-min Son):
Over the years Son Heung-Min has established himself as one of the best Asian footballers. Son is a Tottenham Hotspur first-team regular and he played a very important role in Mauro Pochettino’s team in the 2017/2018 Premier League campaign, scoring 12 goals, while making 37 appearances in the process.
The South Korean footballer, who is well known for his speed and a very powerful shot, was born in Chuncheo on 8 July 1992 and he began his youth career at FC Seoul. In 2008 he moved to Hamburger SV, but he made his senior debut for the Bundesliga club two years later. In 2013 he signed a deal with fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen and he scored 21 goals in 62 appearances in the Bundesliga for the BayArena outfit.
In 2015 he signed a five-year contract with Spurs for a fee of £22 million. Son Heung-min made his South Korea debut in a friendly against Syria in 2010.
Highlighted Team (West Ham):
West Ham United are an English football club based in East London. The club was founded in 1895 and it has to be noted that the club’s name was Thames Ironworks back then. The Hammers were playing their home games at Upton Park from 1904 until 2016, when they moved to the Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
West Ham have won three FA Cup trophies (1964, 1975 and 1980) and they were runners-up in 1923 and 2006. The capital club finished the 1985/1986 England first division campaign in third place in the standings and that is the club’s highest placing in the top flight. West Ham United have strong rivalries with fellow London clubs, but Tottenham Hotspur are considered the club’s main rivals.
A number of top-class players were part of West Ham in the past and the likes of Joe Cole, Carlos Tevez, Paolo Di Canio, Paul Ince, Julian Dicks, Shaka Hislop, Michael Carrick and Slaven Bilic are some of them.
