Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Thursday’s football game at Estadio El Sadar pits together Osasuna and Almeria, the two teams who were beaten by Mallorca and Barcelona respectively on Matchday 18. Osasuna are eyeing their third home win of the process and they will not have a better chance than this to get back on course. Chimy Avila is pushing for a start following his fine display against los Bermellones, while both Ruben Garcia and Johan Mojica are sidelined with injuries.
The Andalusians, on the other hand, are stuck at the bottom with only five points on their account. As Almeria have already suffered eight defeats on the road this term, we are tempted to place our bets on Osasuna this time out. Iddrisu Baba is banned for the match, while all Gonzalo Melero, Lucas Robertone, Ibrahima Kone, Luis Suarez, and Martin Svidersky miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Chimy Ávila):
Popularly known as "Chimy," Ezequiel Avila 's youth career was spent playing football in Argentina at Tiro Federal. An Argentinian himself, the Rosario native signed his first professional contract with Federal in 2010 and made his debut appearance in the same year, featuring in a 2-0 away loss to Almirante Brown on the 16th of October.
Chimy then spent an additional five years at the club, making just 13 appearances before joining San Lorenzo on a free transfer. His Lorenzo spell generated his first professional goal, which came on the 20th of April, 2016, in a Copa Libertadores game against LDO Quito. In 2017, he left Lorenzo to join Spanish outfit SD Huesca on a two-year loan deal. This move marked Chimy's first time playing club football outside Argentina.
At Huesca, the winger scored 17 goals in 70 appearances. At the end of the loan period in 2019, Chimy returned to Lorenzo, who, in turn, sold him to LaLiga side CA Osasuna on a transfer worth 5 million euros. Born on the 6th of February, 1994, the 25-year-old is currently on a four-year contract with Los Rojillos.
Highlighted Team (Almeria):
UD Almeria is a Spanish club based in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Los Rojiblancos are one of the newer additions to the Spanish football system, with the club being founded on July 26, 1989.
Almeria suffered relegation to Segunda Division in the 2014/15 season, and they have been competing in the Spanish second tier ever since. Los Rojiblancos are well known for their white shirts with red stripes, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Sofiane Feghouli, Felipe Melo, Diego Alves, Veljko Paunovic, Aleix Vidal, Alvaro Negredo, Tomer Hemed, and Mate Bilic are some notable footballers who played for Almeria in the past. Fellow Andalusian clubs Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del Rey came in the 2010/11 season when they made it to the semis of the prestigious competition. Nonetheless, Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be a big catch for Almeria in the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
