Our prediction for this Premier League match:
There will be fireworks when Chelsea and Fulham lock horns at Stamford Bridge in the London derby. The Blues have been showing signs of improvement of late, but they need to keep on improving their game if they are to represent England in European competitions next season. Mauro Pochettino’s troops are likely to stick to their attacking style of play, but keep in mind that summer signing Nicolas Jackson is on international duty. Christopher Nkunku has overcome his minor injury, while both Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka are major doubts.
The Cottagers, on the other hand, continue with their old habit of producing fine displays at home, while struggling on the travels. Fulham are on a four-game losing run on the road in the national championship, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the in-form hosts. To make things even worse for the away side, all Fode Ballo, Calvin Bassey, and Alex Iwobi represent their homelands at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
Highlighted Player (Thiago Silva):
Brazilian defender Thiago Silva is one of the highest rated defenders in world football. Having emerged from Fluminense youth ranks, the 31-year-old defender established himself as a world-class performer while plying his trade for AC Milan from 2009 to 2012.
Having largely contributed to Rossonerri’s title winning campaign in 2010-11, Thiago Silva moved to Paris Saint-Germain together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a reported fee worth €42 million, which made him then second-most expensive defender in football history after Rio Ferdinand.
Silva was an immediate success at the French club, helping Les Parisiens win four consecutive Ligue 1 titles in the process. Heavily linked with a move away from Parc des Princes, fan favourite Thiago Silva remains a key figure at Paris Saint-Germain and a leader of the new wave under head coach Unai Emery. Having already surpassed the 100-game mark for the French giants, Thiago Silva is slowly writing his name in the history books of Paris Saint-Germain.
Highlighted Team (Fulham):
Fulham are a club from London that play in the Premier League. The capital club dropped to the English second tier at the end of the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign after failing to impress in the elite competition, but managed to return in season 2018/2019.
Fulham were founded in 1879 and they play their home matches at Craven Cottage. Fulham are the oldest-established club from the English capital to have played in the top flight.
Fulham finished the 2008/2009 Premier League campaign in seventh place in the standings and that is considered the team’s biggest success, speaking of their participation in the Premier League.
The Cottagers played in the Europa League twice and they did well to reach the FA Cup final in 1975, but they were beaten by their local rivals West Ham United in the title game (0-2). Chelsea are regarded as Fulham’s bitter rivals as well and the two teams take on each other in the North London derby.
