Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Olympique Marseille will be aiming to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Olympique Lyon when they take on Metz in the Ligue 1 round 21. OM failed to win the previous four league matches, but they are still seen as hot favourites to beat les Grenats at their Stade Velodrome. Chancel Mbemba is back from international duty, while all Jordan Veretout, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Amir Murillo, Bilal Nadir, and Valentin Rongier remain in the recovery room.
Metz, on the other hand, are on a seven-game losing run in the French top flight, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the home side. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team ahead of the trip to Marseille where OM and Les Grenats played out a goalless draw in their last meeting in the French top flight.
Highlighted Player (Valentin Rongier):
Valentin Rongier is a French footballer, who plays for Ligue 1 side Nantes as a defensive midfielder. Rongier, who was born on December 7, 1994 in Macon (France) scored two goals in 39 appearances for Nantes B from 2013 to 2015 and he made his Ligue 1 debut with Les Canaris on October 18, 2014 in a 1-1 draw with Stade de Reims.
It has to be noted that he replaced Lucas Deaux 15 minutes before the final whistle. Over the years Valentin Rongier has established himself as a first-team regular at Nantes and you should know that he made no less than 31 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign.
On June 25, 2015 he extended his deal with the La Beaujoir-Louis Fonteneau outfit and his contract should expire on June 30, 2020. Valentin Rongier’s main position is defensive midfielder, but he is used as a central midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference).
However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club.
Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
