Our prediction for this Championship match:
Following a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers, Plymouth will be aiming to escape the danger zone when they take on Preston in the Championship round 38. The Pilgrims are on a three-game losing run at home, but bear in mind that they have already recorded eight wins at their Home Park. Ian Foster has a full squad to choose from for Saturday’s encounter.
The Lilywhites, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-1 loss to Stoke City and seeing that Plymouth generally produce fine performances at home ground, we predict that the visitors are going to return to Preston with their hands empty. All Ched Evans, Brad Potts, and Kian Best are sidelined with injuries for the visiting team. In the first half of the season Preston defeated Plymouth 2-1 at Deepdale, meaning that the hosts are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Greg Cunningham):
Greg Cunningham is a product of Manchester City football academy. Irish footballer, who was born on January 31, 1991 in Galway, though, made no more than two appearances for Manchester City in the Premier League. After ending his loan spells with Leicester City and Nottingham Forest the defender moved to Bristol City in 2012 and he played for the Robins from 2012 to 2015.
Creg Cunningham did well to win the Football League Trophy with Bristol City in the 2014/2015 season, but at the end of the season he moved to Preston North End. The Irish footballer has established himself as a first-team regular at Preston and it has to be noted that he was appointed captain of the team on July 24, 2017.
Speaking of his international career, Greg Cunningham made his debut for Republic of Ireland on May 28, 2010 in a 3-0 win over Algeria. His main position is left-back, but he is capable of playing as a centre-back if needed as well.
Highlighted Team (Plymouth):
Nicknamed the Pilgrims, Plymouth are a professional football club that host their rivals at Home Park. The stadium, which can hold up to 18,600 people, was built in 1892 and opened the following year. Plymouth footballers wear dark green jerseys and white shorts when playing in front of home fans, while light green and white are the dominant colours of their away kit.
The Pilgrims made it to the FA Cup semi-finals in the 1983-84 season, with the team advancing to the Football League Cup semis on two occasions (1964-65, 1973-74). The Pilgrims recorded their biggest win against Millwall on January 16, 1932, with the team beating the Lions 8-1, and they repeated the success in 1994 as they rolled over Hartlepool United in the Second Division.
The club suffered their heaviest defeat against Stoke City (0-9) on December 17, 1960. Fellow Devon teams Exeter City and Torquay United are seen as the club’s fiercest rivals.
