Our prediction for this Championship match:
Millwall will be aiming to put an end to their four-game winless run in the Championship when they take on Leicester City on Matchday 42. The Lions are eager to escape the danger zone and they have no other option but to go all guns blazing at the Foxes. Both Kevin Nisbet and Tom Bradshaw remain in the recovery room, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
Leicester City, on the other hand, are leading the chase for automatic promotion, but both Leeds United and Ipswich Town are still breathing down their neck. The league leaders are eyeing their third consecutive win in the English second tier and we predict that they are going to take advantage of the current situation in Millwall’s dressing room. As for the away team, veteran Jamie Vardy is pushing for a start, while all Thomas Cannon, Ben Nelson, and Kasey McAteer remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Jamie Vardy):
Spending his early career playing no-league football, Jamie Vardy made the headlines when he joined Leicester City in a £1 million deal in 2012, but little did he know that he would go on to become a genuine Premier League star just three years later.
The experienced forward helped the Foxes gain promotion to the elite division and then score more than 20 goals as they mounted an unlikely title bid, earning worldwide acclaim as well as a place in the England squad. Vardy went on to score his first two goals for the Three Lions in March 2016 friendlies, with his back-heel goal against Germany in Berlin seeing him instantly become a fans’ favourite.
Over the years, Vardy has earned a reputation as a striker who never gives up and can be a real menace for opposition defenders, but his excellent goalscoring record and good link-up play are enough to suggest he can be described as a mix of old-style pacey forwards and modern strikers.
Highlighted Team (Millwall):
Based in Bermonsdey, South East London, Millwall are a football club whose supporters have often been associated with hooliganism. West Ham United are considered the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two teams.
The Lions share rivalry with Charlton as well and the two teams first met back in 1921. The Den is Milwall’s home ground at the capacity of the stadium, which was opened in 1993, is 20.146.
The capital club did well to make it to the 2003/2004 FA Cup final, but Premier League giants Manchester United proved to be a big catch for the Lions. The Red Devils won the game 3-0, but despite suffering the heavy loss in the title game, Milwall booked their place in the UEFA Cup. However, Ferencvaros of Hungary proved to be a big catch for the English outfit in the two-legged tie.
Australia international Tim Cahill is considered one of the most notable footballers who whore Millwall shirt (1998-2004).
