Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Borussia Dortmund will try to revive their Champions League hopes when they take on Augsburg in the Bundesliga round 32. The Yellow-Blacks experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-1 loss to Leipzig, but they are still seen as favourites to beat the Bavarians on home soil. Towering defender Mats Hummels should recover in time to face Augsburg, while all Donyell Malen, Sebastien Haller, and Ramy Bensebaini remain in the recovery room.
The visiting side, on the other hand, failed to impress in back-to-back defeats to Eintracht Frankfurt (1-3) and Werder Bremen (0-3). Even though Borussia Dortmund will be with one eye on the Champions League clash with PSG, home win should definitely be considered. Midfielder Kristijan Jakic is banned for the visitors, while all Arne Engels, Fredrik Jensen, Iago, Elvis Rexhbecaj, Robert Gumny, Reece Oxford, and Raphael Framberger are out of contention through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Marco Reus):
Marco Reus is a German football player who was born on 31 May, 1989. The pacey attacking midfielder, who is capable of playing as a winger as well, started his senior career at Rot Weiss Ahlen and it has to be noted that he made 43 league appearances for the club in lower leagues.
In 2009 he signed a four-year contract with Borussia M’gladbach and he scored his first Bundesliga goal against Mainz on 28 August, 2009. After impressing with the Fohlen in the 2011/2012 Bundesliga campaign, he joined Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season. He has been playing for the Millionaires ever since and he represents Germany on the international stage as well.
However, he was more than unfortunate to miss the 2014 FIFA World Cup with injury when Joachim Low’s team lifted the prestigious trophy. To make things even worse for Marco Reus, he was forced to withdraw from the Germany Euro 2016 squad as well (injury). The German ace has a contract with Borussia Dortmund which expires on 30 June, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Augsburg):
Augsburg are a German football club founded in Augsburg, Bavaria back in 1907. Die Fuggerstadter play in German Bundesliga and with 12,200 members they are regarded as the largest football club in Bavaria. Augsburg wear white shirts and they host their rivals at WWK ARENA.
The capacity of the stadium is 30,660 and it has been the home of Augsburg since 2009. Augsburg won the Schwaben Cup 13 times and it has to be noted that they were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011.
The club qualified for the Europa League 2015/2016 group stages and thanks to a 3-1 win over Partizan in Belgrade they booked their place in the last 32. However, Liverpool proved to be a big catch for the German outfit in the Europa League knockout stages.
Die Fuggerstadter’s main rivals are TSV 1860 Munich and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other.
