Our prediction for this MLS match:
Los Angeles Galaxy will be looking to build on a 4-2 win over Sporting Kansas City when they face New York City at Dignity Health Sports Park on Thursday morning. LA Galaxy quickly bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Chicago Fire, but they do not want to stop now. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Dejan Joveljic, who scored his 10th goal of the season in the last league match. Both Riqui Puig and Gaston Brugman remain in the recovery room.
The Blue Pigeons, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-2 loss to Columbus Crew, which is yet another reason why we are going to bet on the home side. To make things even more complicated for the away team, midfielder Mitja Ilenic is banned for the match following his sending-off in the defeat to Columbus.
Highlighted Player (Martin Caceres):
Martin Caceres is a widely travelled and well known Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Juventus. Primarily a central defender, Caceres is known for his tenacity, pace, strength, tackling and aerial ability. He is versatile and can operate as full-back on either sides too. Caceres started his career at Defensor Sporting and became a regular at a very young age.
In 2007, he went to Spanish side Villarreal but never officially appeared for them. He then was snapped up by Barcelona in 2008 for a reported transfer fee of € 16.5 million. But his only season at the Camp Nou was marred with injuries and moved to Juventus in 2012 via a short stop at Sevilla.
Caceres made his full senior team debut in 2007 and was a successful member of the team that won the 2011 Copa America. He also played at the 2014 World Cup and has 68 national caps to his credit.
Highlighted Team (New York City):
New York City are an American soccer club and they have been competing in Major League Soccer since 2015. The Pigeons play their home games at Yankee Stadium and they are the second club in New York after the New York Red Bulls.
Famous Arsenal player Patrick Vieira took over the reins in January, 2016 and he helped the team finish the season in second place in the Eastern Conference. However, they were totally outclassed by Toronto FC (0-7 on aggregate) in the conference semifinals.
New York City chiefs have been pumping up a lot of money into the squad ever since the team began play in MLS and it has to be noted that the likes of Andrea Pirlo and David Villa played for the Pigeons in the 2016 season. New York City footballers wear sky blue shirts when playing at home, while the colour of the team’s away kit is dark blue.
Companies City Football Group (80%) and Yankee Global Enterprises own the club.
