Our prediction for this DFB Pokal match:
Buoyed by a 3-1 win over Freiburg, Leipzig will be aiming to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face St. Pauli in the German Cup last 32. The Red Bulls are on a four-game winning run in the Bundesliga and it is no wonder the bookies see them as hot favourites to win Tuesday’s clash. Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is a major doubt after limping off with injury in a 3-1 win over Freiburg, with Maarten Vandevoordt being ready to step up.
St. Pauli, on the other hand, are sitting in the relegation zone in the Bundesliga standings. As Alexander Blessin’s men are not regarded as good travellers, we predict that Leipzig are going to advance to the DFB Pokal quarter-finals. All Ben Voll, Elias Saad, Connor Metcalfe, Simon Zoller, Sascha Burchert, and Soren Ahlers remain on the sidelines with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Willi Orban):
Willi Orban was born on 3 November, 1992 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Orban plays as a centre back, but he can operate as a defensive midfielder as well. The 185-cm-tall footballer is a product of Kaiserslautern’s youth academy and he played 35 league games for the reserve team between 2011 and 2013.
Orban made his debut for the first team in 2011, against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The Kaiserslautern footballer made 68 league appearances for Kaiserslautern, scoring 7 goals for the German outfit between 2011 and 2015, but in May 2015 he signed a contract with Leipzig. Kaislerslautern fans were very angry with the defender when he decided to join die Bullen.
Willi Orban has two caps for Germany U21, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior team. He has a contract with Leipzig, which expires on 30 June, 2019. Willi Orban has a dual citizenship (Germany, Hungary).
Highlighted Team (Leipzig):
Leipzig are a professional football club founded in 2009. Die Bullen (The Bulls) were unbeaten in the 2012/2013 Regionalliga Nordost and, as a result, they secured promotion to the 3. Liga. After finishing the 2013/2014 as 3rd. Liga campaign in second place in the standings, Leipzig were promoted to the 2. Bundesliga and they competed in the German second tier for two seasons.
Despite suffering a loss to Karlsruher on the last day of the 2015/2016 round in the 2. Bundesliga campaign, die Bullen secured promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time ever. Leipzig play their home games at Red Bull Arena (42,959) and it has to be noted that the stadium was opened in 1954.
Die Bullen wear white shirts and red shorts while their away kit is blue and yellow. Ralph Hasenhuttl was appointed as the team’s manager at the end of the 2015/2016 season and you should know that the likes of Ralf Rangnick, Achim Beierlorzer, Alexander Zorniger, Peter Pacult, Tomas Oral and Tino Vogel were in charge of the team in the past as well.
