Our prediction for this EFL Cup match:
All eyes will be on Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Tottenham and Liverpool face each other in the EFL Cup semis, first leg, on Wednesday evening. Spurs aim to put an end to their four-game winless run, but given their shaky defence, home win should not be considered. Manager Ange Postecoglou rested Son Heung-Min and James Maddison at the weekend and the duo is set to return to the starting XI against Liverpool. The likes of Romero, Richarlison, Udogie, van de Ven, and Davies remain in the recovery room.
The Reds, on the other hand, dropped two points in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League derby. Arne Slot’s men aim to return to winning ways as soon as possible. Considering that Liverpool crushed Tottenham 6-3 in London last month, we believe that there is a big value in betting on Mohamed Salah and Co. Darwin Nunez is pushing for a start, while Dominik Szoboszlai has recovered in time to face Spurs.
Highlighted Player (Heung-min Son):
Over the years Son Heung-Min has established himself as one of the best Asian footballers. Son is a Tottenham Hotspur first-team regular and he played a very important role in Mauro Pochettino’s team in the 2017/2018 Premier League campaign, scoring 12 goals, while making 37 appearances in the process.
The South Korean footballer, who is well known for his speed and a very powerful shot, was born in Chuncheo on 8 July 1992 and he began his youth career at FC Seoul. In 2008 he moved to Hamburger SV, but he made his senior debut for the Bundesliga club two years later. In 2013 he signed a deal with fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen and he scored 21 goals in 62 appearances in the Bundesliga for the BayArena outfit.
In 2015 he signed a five-year contract with Spurs for a fee of £22 million. Son Heung-min made his South Korea debut in a friendly against Syria in 2010.
Highlighted Team (Liverpool):
Founded back in 1892, Liverpool are one of England’s and world’s most famous clubs. The Reds hold a high-profile rivalry with Everton and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the Merseyside derby.
The Reds welcome their opponents at Anfield and it has to be noted that they have already won 18 first division trophies. Liverpool were on the verge of lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and left the Reds without a title.
Liverpool won one of their last Champions League trophy's in 2005, with the team coming from three goals behind to beat Milan in a historic clash in Istanbul. The Reds have clinched six European Cups and it is no surprise they are regarded as one of the greatest European clubs.
The likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Paul Ince, Ian Rush, Graeme Souness, Sami Hyypia and Luis Suarez are some of the most notable footballers to have represented the club over the years. The club’s anthem is You’ll Never Walk Alone and their shirt colour is red.
