Our prediction for this Africa Cup of Nations 2024 match:
Top position in Group C will be at stake when Guinea and Senegal go head to head at Charles Konan Banny Stadium. Guinea kicked off their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 1-1 draw with Cameroon, with the team beating Gambia in their second group game and they must be high on confidence ahead of the decider. Francois Kamano serves the second of his two-game ban, while there are no fresh injury worries in Kaba Diawara’s team.
The Lions of Teranga, on the other hand, aim to keep their 100% record at the 2023 AFCON intact, but they should be happy with one point from Tuesday’s clash. As Guinea are likely to adopt a cautious approach as well, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. All Idrissa Gana Gueye, Nicolas Jackson, and Iliman Ndiaye should be recalled to the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Kalidou Koulibaly):
Despite being born in Saint-Die-des-Vosges, France on June 20, 1991, Kalidou Koulibaly represents Senegal on the international stage. Koulibaly began his youth career at Saint-Die, but he played for Metz at the start of his career as well.
The left-footed defender continued playing for les Grenats at the senior level and it has to be noted that he made 42 appearances in the league for the club before joining Genk in 2012. In 2014 Koulibaly signed a five-year deal with Napoli for a fee of £6.5 million. In August 2014 the Senegal international made his Champions League debut in a 1-1 draw with Athletic Club.
Kalidou Koulibaly is a tall, quick and physically strong footballer, who is impressive in the air. He is capable of playing as both centre and full back. The Napoli defender made his Senegal debut in September 2015 against Namibia. In 2017 he represented the Lions of Teranga at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Highlighted Team (Guinea):
Nicknamed the National Elephants, Guinea national team are affiliated to the Guinea Football Federation. Guinea qualified for their 12th Africa Cup of Nations and they will face the likes of Nigeria, Madagascar and Burundi in the group stages of the tournament in Egypt.
The National Elephants have yet to win the Africa Cup of Nations, but they were on the verge of going all the way at the tournament in Ethiopia back in 1976. Guinea finished the final round in second place in the standings, only one point behind champions Morocco.
The National Elephants wear red socks, yellow shorts and green socks when welcoming their rivals, whilst their away colours are yellow and red. Guinea suffered a 2-1 loss to Togo in their first international game (May, 1962). The African side recorded their biggest win against Mauritania (14-0) on May, 1972), whilst a 6-0 loss to Zaire (July, 1972) is considered the biggest defeat in the history of the national team.
